Visited the mossy grass festival and came to this restaurant for dinner. Lovely house. Weather was great, so we chose to eat outside. Fried green tomatoes were sooo good. Fried chicken batter was out of this world! Shrimp basket and fries were plentiful and good as well. Staff very pleasant.

My husband and I stopped for lunch in this beautiful town. We could not have been more pleased with Swanson Restaurant. The venue was an old house with beautifully restored wood floors and nicely decorated rooms. We chose the covered porch with white linens on the tables! The food selection was amazing southern fare. We each chose vegetable plates and... More

We got there a bit late, for a small GA town. They were still cordial, patient and did not act like they were eager to close and go home. The service was outstanding, very attentive. We had grilled chicken and meat loaf, both were delicious. The little corn bread muffins are excellent. Their sides are the typical Southern fare, okra,... More

Love the cornbread and veggie choices! This establishment is perfect for lunch with a friend, linger, drink good tea, and wait for a delicious meal.....it is not fast food, so patience is welcome!

Light and airy, this house-turned-restaurant is a pleasant place for old fashioned conversation and classic Southern food. Our party of five all had different entrées and all were excellent. The prices are almost embarrassingly low, and we stayed and chatted for quite a while. Save room for dessert (if you can.)

Staying overnight in Perry at an RV park and asked for a place to go for dinner that was local, good and not a chain restaurant and we were told to go to The Swanson. Fabulous is all I can say. Fried green tomatoes with a light crispy batter, chicken and dumplings, collard greens and the best warm bread pudding... More

This was our third time to eat here. The service, food, cleanses of the restaurant was excellent. Good variety to choose from.

The Swanson is one of Middle Georgia's best kept secrets. The proprietors, Mike and Kim Sheridan, have created the quintessential and upscale “Southern Sunday dinner at Grandma’s house”. Starting out as a livery and later converted to a home in late 1800s, the restaurant building has over 200 years of history in Perry. The white tablecloths, cloth napkins, hardwood floors,... More

I had a very delightful lunch meal on August 1. I was in town for a business meeting and I wanted to try something beyond the regular chain restaurants. The Swanson Restaurant was recommended by a colleague. My lunch portion was very generous and the service was superb. The sour cream biscuits were AWESEOME!! It was a nice summer day,... More
