Not to be missed! Nothing fancy, but when the atmosphere, the family running the place and the cooking are so genuine why would you go anywhere else? This is where the locals go. i had only 2 meals out on this quick funeral trip. I'm glad one of them was here for true Southern soul food. I had the fried... More

Great little hidden place - you have to know about it, as it is hidden on a side alley with a very small sign over a screen door. Mother is warm and friendly, and eager to serve. The food is just plain home cooking. Good, but not great. Price is reasonable - $5 for a full meal + drink. The... More

This is one of those hidden gems that you must try if you are in the area. I have tried most of the things Mother offers and I have never had a bad meal. There is no fancy building, no fancy tables or chairs, and not even total matching plates, however what it does have is hospitality and food that... More

33 1/2 E. Broad St, up a small alley kind of hard to find, but well worth the hunt! Down home country cooking, soul food at its finest. For my friends in NE GA, imagine a cross between Carolyn's and Shirley's (Toccoa, Ga). I had Fried Chicken, Collards and Dressing - very good.

After you find this place by walking a little ways thru an alley. there's a few smiling faces behind a counter. Pick what you want off a chalk board menu and they'll get it for you. Country cookin' all right! It tickeled me. Some foods are served right out of the crock pot. Pay for your meal, which isn't much... More

Mother's Kitchen is a true hidden gem, tucked away in an alley, you have to be looking for it to find it, but once you find it you will be a repeat customer again and again! They open at 11:30 and close around 3 pm (or when they run out of food, whichever comes first). Fantastic fried chicken, green beans,... More

If you want honest to goodness southern cooking go to Mother's Kitchen. Hidden down a little alley but ask a local and they will tell you the way. Mama writes on a blackboard what she is cooking that day: Fried chicken, okra, biscuits, cornbread, squash, etc. It does not matter what you order because it is all going to be... More
