Great Food - Off Beaten Path

Driftwood Bistro is a great spot to eat - but you'll have to drive a little to get there. That said - it's hard to be "off the beaten path" on an island as small as Jekyll. I enjoy southrern food and sample it as often as i can. I had the collard stuffed with beef and sered with Creole sauce, the fried okra and the sweet potato souffle. The okra was very good but towards the end i found it salty, bu i would defiately order it agai. Even though i love sweet potato anything, this... More

We just got home from the Driftwood Bistro. Wow it was excellent! We had to wait a little bit but I expect that when I go to a good restaurant during dinnertime. We arrived at 630 on a Friday night and were seated in about 30 minutes. If you like grits you MUST try them here either as shrimp& grits... More

We waited about 30 minutes to be seated on a Saturday. It was busy, but when asked if we could place our order to-go we were told that to-go orders are not taken on Saturdays. The customer service was good. Once seated we ordered blackened chicken and blackened shrimp and grits. The shrimp and grits were good and my date... More

We ate Christmas Eve dinner here (since we were staying on site, and this was the only restaurant open). Delicious food, great service, and only a few steps from our room at the resort. Highly recommended!

The wait is long, but if you already know that ahead of time, you can plan for it. We went at 5:30 and had a 30 minute wait. It was worth it. We had great fish, fried green tomatoes, green beans, mashed potatoes, etc. The atmosphere is charming and the prices are some of the best on the island. This... More

We read the reviews and were mentally prepared for a long wait. I am so glad we didn't wait long as we would have rated this meal lower. Our dining experience was fine - just fine. The collards and cheese grits were great but after that, we were underwhelmed.

I wish we had the half star system on Trip Advisor. Would give 4.5 stars. It was a small challenge to find as it is in a condo/rental? complex. This was very good tasty southern food. I had the small Shrimp platter and it was more than enough for dinner. The grits and okra were good, typical Southern fare. Hubs... More

Although the wait can some times seem excessive the food is outstanding. Casual dining with some of the best fried okra and fried green tomatoes I have ever had. Shrimp cakes were outstanding and recommend all shrimp dishes. Flounder was mushy and undoubtedly frozen, will not order again. Kids loved their Cuban sandwiches.

This is my favorite restaurant on Jekyll Island because I know I can get a good meal at a reasonable price. Good waitresses and nice atmosphere, although the carved fish hanging on the wall with prices on the front are a little tacky. I did miss the "Dixie lemonade" this year. Seems they no longer have the bourbon ("sweet tea?")... More
