Dependably good

This is one of Hiawassee's best. Formerly a Shoneys the interior is usually quiet- conducive to conversation. On a nice evening they have added outside seating. The view is lakeside. Service is attentive & menu is varied. Prime Rib and trout are good and sweet potato fries are fab. I ask for... read more

Hands down, best restaurant in area, for hundreds of miles, for that matter. Lakefront patio seating especially enjoyable this time of year. Diverse menu, something for everyone. Well-informed craft beer and wine selection. Exceptionally professional and friendly service. To those at the helm, and crew, kudos.

Had a wonderful lunch at Chophouse in Hiawasee, Georgia. We were seated at a front widow table with a beautiful lake view; outdoor seating is also offered. Chophouse is located at the top of a ridge with long range views of the lake. We ordered the Portabella Tempura Mushrooms, Calamari, and Wedge Salads for lunch. Everything was delicious and fresh.... Absolutely awesome from the bread through the French onion soup and all the way to the end of the best filet and grilled shrimp EVER! Highly recommend the Chophouse! Be sure to ask for the waiter Freddie!

Several people ordered the special - fried cod. There was more batter than fish and it was over cooked. One lady ordered the BLT and the bacon was burnt and she had a black speck floating in her tea. When they brought her tea back it had a bug in it. Although the food experience was awful they staff was... More

My wife and I are vegetarians and we only visited this restaurant because we were with friends and we gave up on trying to find an obviously veggie friendly place. We were pleasantly surprised by the variety of dishes that they serve. Definitely not a "chop house". The only down side was that it took quite a while for the... More

Arriving early has its advantages because the prices are much more affordable and there are some really good specials. I have never had a disappointing meal at any Chophouse, but we especially enjoyed our recent experience in Hiawassee. Our server went out of his way to treat us like we were the only table in the house. The food was... More

The service was good, but the food had way too much salt Prices were on the expensive side for what you got. Too bad because it had great potential
