We were looking for good, authentic German food in a town where you have to sort out the real from the fantasy. We found the food and the atmosphere at Bodensee. I had the Wurst Sampler and considered having a second helping of the Garlic Wurst for dessert. It was outstanding. Instead I had the Apple Strudel with Ice Cream... More

WE were in Helen on 11/17/14. Stopped and asked a local about the best place to eat German food. He refused to offer suggestions saying none of the German places meets his standards that we should eat elsewhere. We picked out Bodensee and decided to give it a try anyway. The service was great and the waitress was well informed... More

I went to 6 places to eat over the weekend while staying in Helen GA. The food here was great and was my personal favorite for German dinner grub. Service was great and the beer was cold. The prices were even with the other places we visited but the food was best for us. I had the goulash and my... More

We went for lunch on a Friday as part of our trip to the mountains to see the fall colors. We ordered from the dinner menu. The veal was tough and the service just average. When we asked where the bread was, the waitress informed us that bread was not serve at lunch time. I told that the menu did... More

Really enjoyed the atmosphere and service here! The food was really good and almost everything seemed fresh. I say almost because the one thing that really bothered me were the canned mushrooms. If I'm paying $20 for my meal I expect everything to be fresh. Hubby had the gypsy schnitzel, he liked is a lot, but it was unlike any... More

I'm usually in the North Georgia every three weeks and I always stay in Helen. My favorite restaurant is Bodensee for several reasons. Fantastic, authentic German food with very large portions. My favorite is the Jaeger Schnitzel, and it is absolutely incredible. The German potato salad is amazing, and the potato pancakes are wonderful too. Great service by all the... More

This restaurant has a cozy little outdoor dining area. The food was good. They had outdoor heaters for the guests during cold weather.

The good thing is the beer and bread and the parking attendants were friendly. The rest was terrible. The wursts were overcooked, the sauerkraut and red cabbage were inedible. Try somewhere else.
