When we got to our hotel we ask where there's a good place to eat with down home cooking & this is the place! You can get fried or grilled food & there's a good selection.

Whenever we are in Savannah, we head to Carey Hilliards in Garden City. Great service and great food. Best shrimp salad, best onion rings, and best crab stew anywhere!! We have never had a bad meal there. Only downfall is that is you are of any overweight size, some of the booths are too tight.

The onion rings were actually good, but the fried shrimp were too heavily breaded, and were flavorless. Ditto for the hush puppies. The fried scallops were flavorless and rubbery. Think fried chewing gum here. The entire beer menu consisted of three domestic offerings, all from the same company. No imports, and no domestic choices, really. Next time I'll drive the... More

We had reservations for a restaurant that closed the day before we arrived. We searched and saw the good rating here. We tried it out. The service was awkward as the original server left us and was replaced without telling us what happened. The restaurant looks like it has not changed since the 60s. We started with onion rings. These... More

Someone said that this is Southern BBQ, and we went. Honestly, I'd rather buy a chicken breast and pour sauce on it at home. Uninspired, not terribly clean, the staff appeared friendly but was mentally un-engaged. I'm not going back. There are much better options in the Savannah area, including Babe's which I reviewed too.

Visited this restaurant after asking 'locals' for suggestions of where to go that might have outdoor seating and accommodate the large dog we were traveling with. This restaurant has old fashioned curb service and this is what we did. The food was excellent and generous and we were glad to find this place. We will certainly stop there again, anytime... More

Love this place. Its an old establishment with tons of history. We were taken to Cary Hillard's as children and loved it back then. This one has an old fashion drive in area where the curb hops take orders or bring out your called in orders. Super service. Sweet Tea is a must at this place! Prices are moderate and... More

Stopped by one of my favorite places for a quick lunch. I know it's always gonna be good. I got the BBQ sandwich with a delicious hot cheddar bake (lots of cheese on the top)! The sweet tea was perfect, with a little lemon in it. Brunswick stew was great, as usual. Service is always quick with a smile. Can"t... More

This was a nice Southern style restaurant. We had great Georgia shrimp with a nice light breading. the mac n cheese was not the best but not bad. LOVED THE ONION RINGS!!!! Portions were reasonable and the waitress was very nice and did a good job.
