Stopped in for a drink or 4. We got there just after the live music started. The bar had some open seats so we plopped down there. The bartender offered up some local brews which we gladly accepted! I spotted a very nice bourbon selection and had a taste or two of some of those. Great prices on everything! Great... More

Walked in was not that impressed with the atmosphere..however the food was very impressive! Also the Owner was extremely knowledgeable offering us tastes if beer on tap until we found just the right one. This little place is truly a hidden jewel!!!

This place has just changed ownership and it has been awesome. Love the food and at respectable prices. I'd say go with the fam or with a group of friends.

After waiting over an hour for an appetizer we paid for our drinks and left. This upset the chef/manager? who stated that they were just really busy and that they didn't do "frozen" food and that everything was made from scratch... Really? Chicken fingers and fries from scratch? Highly unlikely for a dive bar. Also a surprisingly high volume of... More

Overall the food was not great and they forgot to bring out part of our order and the wait staff was not very attentive. The place reminded me more of a cheap college bar so if you just want to drink this may be a good place to go but I don't recommend it for eating.

Great fun spot to watch the game and catch a beer. Kind of a downtown staple. Always a good time and great crowd.

I enjoy the buffet. there is so much to choose from. It's fresh and delicious. I especially love the salad and cobbler. It's a college atmosphere but not at lunch when many professionals that work nearby are there.

Came in during an afternoon and fell in love. The surroundings were charming, the food was well-cooked, and the staff was friendly and personable. Look forward to stopping in again the next time I pass through Gainesville

We come to the Monkey Barrel everytime we come to Gainesville, GA and were a little disappointed this time. It use to be a restaurant as well as a bar. Now it is more of just a bar. We don't drink but loved the food; now, the food is just different. No more homemade lasagna, they were out of cheesesticks... More
