Poor Richard's is a Gainesville tradition. The food is consistently good, the atmosphere is great if you like a vintage feel, and the service is stellar. The lower lounge bartender, John Paul, is one of Gainesville's best kept secrets. He is fast and courteous. The wine list is good and reasonably priced. I love the steak soup, house salad and... Consistently wonderful food, great staff and atmosphere. Prime Rib and house salad with hot bacon dressing are delicious! Our favorite restaurant in town.

Always good! You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. From the salads and appetizers to the nice variety of entrees PRs is a Gainesville tradition.

My son wanted a steak and this was one of the higher rated restaurants in Gainesville. Truth in those ratings. The bread was delicious, the warm bacon dressing on the house salad was out of this world, the steak was juicy and tender but most importantly the service made the whole dining experience all the better. I wish I had... More

very good food and service. I highly recommend it. Especially the fried chicken livers and gravy. The furnishings are a little outdated but still a very enjoyable experience

My husband and I eat at Poor Richard's 1-2 times per month and it is by far, my favorite place to eat. The food is always fantastic as is the service. I have eaten the soups, salads, ribs, chicken dishes, and the sandwiches/burgers. The ribs are the best we have ever eaten...anywhere. I have never had a bad meal here,... More

We recently returned to Poor Richard's for a dinner. We left North Georgia several years ago and recently moved back from Florida. We were pleasantly surprised. The service was excellent as usual. The food is as good now as it was several years ago. I remember the seafood was excellent. I ordered the scallops and they were delicious. Very large,... More

We stopped at Poor Richards on New Years Eve to eat a couple of apps and have a drink before heading home from a day at the hospital. We had the French Onion Soup and the Artichoke Dip. The French Onion Soup was one of the best I have ever had. If you like a lot of cheese on your... More

Several years ago I boycoted this place because a waitress tasted my fish off my plate at my table after I told her it tasted "fishy." I just went back the other day as a guest of a birthday party and had the special (shrimp and grits). Special it was! I can honestly say it was the second worst meal... More
