The Best Barbeque Dive Around

I LOVE some good barbeque and I know that, sometimes, the best place to find it would be some little dive at the end of a dirt road in some little town you can't find on a map. Phil maintains all the flavor, charm, and expertise of a hidden barbeque shack while being just off a main road. The... read more

Using recommendation of Trip Advisor ate at the Hickory Pig in Gainesville, Georgia. The BBQ meats were very good, real Hickory flavor and offered a variety of sauces. Should advise this restaurant is as low key as you can get. Three or four tables. I had coleslaw and beans as my sides and wouldn't recommend either because just not that... More

This is true southern hospitality at its finest!! It's not fancy and I wouldn't have it any other way!! Make sure you have the Semi homemade Nannas Pudding and don't forget to to request a performance by Mrs. Patsy Cline!!

To begin with, the service is outstanding. It is exceptionally good barbecue, but it's the service that really keeps people coming back. This is a great place to pick up your tailgate food on the way out to the game. I highly recommend it.

wise man once told me all you need to know about bbq is bare down on the meat and ease off on the potato salad. never has then been more true than at the hickory pig. it is a carnivores paradise. ribs are fred flintstone huge, pork sandwiches, either pulled or sliced tenderloin are heavy laden, cumbersome dreadnoughts that take... I eat here at least twice a week. This is best bbq east of the Mississippi river. Great ribs, stew, and pulled pork smoked with real hickory wood. Put this place on your bucket list!

Wow, Unusual. From the outside it looks a bit....different. And the inside for that matter. The Hickory Pig and a Biscuit place share the same building. the Biscuit place is open until about 11, the the Hickory Pig opens. They share three tables and about nine chairs-which are located between the two restaurants. The Hickory Pig was rated #1 among... More

How rare? A few years ago Atlanta Magazine "expanded" the city limits all the way to Gainesville so they could name Hickory Pig "Best BBQ in Atlanta." Phil and his helper "Little Bit' have also been written up in Southern Living, and with good reason. The man know his way around a pig and a pit. There's nothing fancy about... More
