My husband and neighbors really love this BBQ. One neighbor has been eating it for years and says she's never found even one little bit of fat. I do like their fries and iced tea and cole slaw. Last thing is that if you're picking up to take home, their takeout service is the fastest I've ever seen. You will... More

Pork lunch plates are very good -ample sides of cole slaw, baked beans or french fries(pick 2). Two excellent bbq sauces to choose from. Banana pudding desert a must have. Not much ambience - paper plates, plastic utensils, paper cups but you are there for the BBQ.

Always good and fresh...I had chicken quarter and husband had chopped pork. Plates come with fries and slaw. Both of those are average...The barBQ is why everyone comes!

This place is raved about at work but it's little more than packages buns and plain meat. Not terrible but not special in any way. Price is fair for the taste and amount.

We suspected it would be good as we navigated the very full parking lot. We looked through the windows and saw a basic restaurant without the fancy ambiance. Looked like a place were folks came to enjoy friends and great food. And it was. Lots of food, quickly served, and very reasonable. This is the kind of BBQ place that... More

The previous reviewer who doesn't like the stew doesn't know what they are talking about. I have tried Brunswick stew in a lot of different places, and Johnny's is some of the best I've found. I always get the regular-sized pork sandwich and a cup of stew when I go there. I don't live in Gainesville, but I have family... More

Pretty darned good BBQ! Service is good, Brunswick Stew and Banana Pudding are always terrific. This is chopped, not pulled pork and beef, the ribs are always good as well.

I stopped in passing through and tried the pork dinner. It come with fries, slaw, bread and of course chopped pork. The service was very fast, the food was good and the prices were reasonable. It was so much food I ended up throwing half of it in the trash. What more could you want?

Very popular bbq place. However, Johnny's offers nothing special. Pork and beef do not taste like they have been smoked. Sauce is ketchup based and tastes like ketchup with a little hot sauce added. Counter service is horrible treating customers as if they are doing a favor providing sub-standard food. Dining area is crowded, and people in line are standing... More
