"Breakfast-nothing special-nothing bad"

We seated ourselves and we were immediately acknowledged. The menu is basic, the service was good, the breakfast entrees were basic fare and overall good. I guess if you want to basic food in a very interesting old environment, Doug's is the place. Nothing Special and Nothing Bad".

Enjoy a bit of ol Americana. Fast friendly service and great southern classics. Enjoyed a Big and Hot breakfast featuring a locally processed sausage. Appears to be mostly locals but made to feel very welcome. Great food and value!

I gave it a 5 because the food was good, the service folks were very pleasant and the prices are great. We went for lunch after a tournament that the nearby Lakefront facilities (20 fields, all sports, etc.) and all 10 of use had good meals. The meatloaf was tender and juicy, the kids enjoyed there meals, so for a... More

Great down home southern cooking! Good place to come for vegetable plate. Meatloaf and fried chicken are better than most mommas. The menu is different every day of the week so you have to come often to try everything! Friendly staff, reasonable prices and portions large enough you won't go home hungry! Good eats, don't let the building keep you... More

I found Doug's place restaurant maybe 6 months ago. My mother recommended the restaurant and took us there for lunch one day. The first visit we were there I absolutely loved it. This food is really good southern cooked food. The atmosphere is not great, it is a small old house that has been turned into a restaurant. The wait... More

We were in the area for 5 days and ate at Doug's Place 4 times. Breakfast was average but lunch and dinner were very good, especially for the price.

Stopped here with my local friend as he promised me real American food and style. This is what we Europeans only can see in TV. Real country feeling, lovely waiting staff, decent food and big portions for a great price. Quick and easy. Real experience.

Doug's is a rustic old time southern meat & 3 - good country dishes for a good price. Excellent chicken livers and steak & gravy, good variety of vegetables including collards, creamed corn, fried okra, sweet potatoes, fried green tomatoes, and other southern staples - all good. Cornbread was only item not done well. Weekends often have live entertainment -... More

Love to go to Doug's Place once a week. Creamed corn and chocolate delight.... All the rest I'd just gravy.

I ate lunch here as a business lunch and had never heard of the place. That changed after one meal here. The food is really good. I had the fried chicken, seasoned green beans and creamed corn. Everything was tasty and the sweetened tea was to die for. It may not look like anything on the outside, but the food... More
