Stopped in nearby Cartersville to inquire about a good home cooking restaurant and Doug's Place came highly recommended. Drove the 5 miles South and easy to find and very crowded. Seated immediately and service was great. Ordered fried chicken livers, black eyed peas, fried mushrooms and corn bread. Wife had catfish fillets, collard greens and pinto beans. Both meats were... When on a road trip I love to find the places where the locals eat and Dougs Place is certainly one of those. The food definitely had that home made quality to it. My ham was delicious but the green beans were pretty tasteless and appeared to have been dumped out of a can. Add some bacon or something! This... More

We used to eat here about once a week, but the last two times we have been this same waitress ignored us. I needed a coffee refill and she walked by our table at least 5 times. I finally sat my cup on the edge of the table, 3 more times she passed us up. FINALLY she took the hint,... More

The only reason I'm not giving Doug's a higher rating is that it is VERY casual. Actually, it could have some of the booths redone........the one I sat in today sunk down pretty uncomfortably. But the food made it worth it! The chicken livers and fried green tomatoes are wonderful! My only suggestion to Doug (there is actually a Doug!)... More

We enjoyed a simple, well prepared breakfast here during our visit to the area. Eggs and bacon, country ham and biscuits. Friendly service and definitely a local place.

I live in Cartersville, just north of Doug's Place, and have been eating lunch there about once a week for a couple of decades. Doug's also caters our Vietnam Veterans Christmas Party and our Vietnam Veterans Lake Allatoona party.

I really like local restaurants and Doug's Place is VERY popular in the little town of Emerson. Good, friendly service. For under $10, you get your choice of meat, three sides, and your choice of biscuit or cornbread. Desserts like cobbler and banana pudding are a couple of dollars more if you have room for dessert. Fried chicken tasted dry... More

I didn't experience what I saw on all the other reviews on here. No awesome food, pretty scantily clad waitresses, or anything special. The mac n cheese tasted like what you get at Ryans or Golden Corrall. The fresh watermelon was good. The homemade biscuit that came with my meal was very good and made me want to try their... More

This is one of those places you would expect to see on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives with Guy Fieri shoveling it in. It's not much to look at but some mighty fine eating is served here. This is my kind of food, the kinda food I grew up on ( I'm 64 ). It is truly amazing to me how... More

Doug's Place is one of our favorite breakfast restaurants. If you want a taste of the south, eat here. I highly recommend eating here.
