Wonderful Southern diner. Great food. Friendly people. Quick service. Easy to find off of I-75. Be sure to save room for dessert.

Southern home cooking in what appears to be an old general store. Exit 283 on I-75; turn off on road 293 in Emerson. We went for a late Sunday lunch and the place was mobbed! Good quick service in spite of the crowd. Wide variety from roast pork to fried chicken - and even chicken livers! About a dozen meats... More

Love Doug's place. This is a country cooking kind of place, and they do it up right. This is a full service restaurant, in an old building in downtown Emerson, just west of I-75. You will love it if you love good country cooking. Unique ordering system (see if you can figure it out the first time you go), and... More

Great service, friendly and fast---that just sets the tone for good home cooking. I can recommend the corn, okra and the pinto beans---just like home. A wonderful throw-back to a good small town dining experience.

I went with some friends on Sept 20, 14 to Doug's Place. The atmosphere is very nostalgic of years gone by in what appeared to be an old general grocery store. From the near lack of seating, Doug's is a very popular place. There is a reason why: the grub. One friend got breakfast and two of us ordered lunch.... More

Stopped in nearby Cartersville to inquire about a good home cooking restaurant and Doug's Place came highly recommended. Drove the 5 miles South and easy to find and very crowded. Seated immediately and service was great. Ordered fried chicken livers, black eyed peas, fried mushrooms and corn bread. Wife had catfish fillets, collard greens and pinto beans. Both meats were... When on a road trip I love to find the places where the locals eat and Dougs Place is certainly one of those. The food definitely had that home made quality to it. My ham was delicious but the green beans were pretty tasteless and appeared to have been dumped out of a can. Add some bacon or something! This... More

We used to eat here about once a week, but the last two times we have been this same waitress ignored us. I needed a coffee refill and she walked by our table at least 5 times. I finally sat my cup on the edge of the table, 3 more times she passed us up. FINALLY she took the hint,... More
