A party of 4 of us decided to try Smith House, as we had been to Dillard House many times, and loved the country homestyle cooking. What a disappointment...being at least a 6th generation southerner, I know about good southern cookin, and this ain't it. Vegetables not seasoned, apparently to accommodate senior guests. Don't get excited about the fried shrimp,... More

Yes we pride ourselves in the quality of our food. Our produce is purchased just miles from us from local farmers. Everyone always brags on how we cook our Fried Chicken and I love to tell them it comes from the original recipe from the Smith's who started the restaurant back in 1922. I do look forward to your visit... More

This was one place everyone told us we HAD to eat at while visiting Dahlonega. It is a family style restaurant, so big tables, and they bring BIG bowls of food to the table for everyone to share. The place smelled like a cafeteria in a nursing home. Not appealing. I was not prepared for the menu to be many... More

I wasn't sure I would like this meal but I did and I would visit again. There is a lot of food and it isn't cheap so I would come hungry for sure. We enjoyed seeing the mine shaft before dinner with our son and reading up on the history of the place. We were sat at a table and... More

We've been to the Smith House several times over the years and the price keeps going up but not the quality. It's just southern cooking, some things very good but overall just average. They don't have kids or senior pricing so the final bill is just way too much for the quality. Customer service has always been A-1, a good... More

We were there on a Thursday night and were one of only 3 tables and were seated alone due to the lack of many other diners. All of the servers were local college kids and they worked together to make sure that we had everything we needed and checked on us often with a smile. The restaurant has been there for... More

We were really hyped up about this place, but were disappointed once we got in. It is beautiful from the outside, and the welcome area is nice as well. We paid for our meals and went downstairs to the restaurant, which is where things went south. Based on the outward appearance, you would expect the restaurant to be the same.... More

Don't waste your money, several acts of deception first southern cooked food, if you like it out of a can with no seasoning your at the right place. I was never informed we would be eating with total strangers, I am a private person and the only one I wanted to dine with was my wife especially.at 16.99 per plate,... More

Food was decent, mostly fried. It is family style and unlimited, be sure to ask for more if you want it. Original portions a kind of small, but they will keep bringing it out. I recommend eating at lunch to save some money. Do check out the gold mine recently discovered under the historic hotel.

Food is served family style and there is a wide variety to choose from. It was very good. Restaurant also has a mine shaft on display which was interesting.
