Enjoyed our dinner

Stopped in for dinner on a Sunday evening after having hiked and walking around the town square. Restaurant was not very busy so we had a table by ourselves in the main dining area. I was a little disappointed as I had been with the family all day and was looking forward to some conversation with... read more

Whenever I'm in the Atlanta area for business or pleasure, I make the drive up to Dahlonega and eat here. Always Georgia hospitality and comfort food. Simply the best.

My husband and I had an old fashioned Sunday lunch at the Smith House. It brought back memories of when we were growing up. We talked about how our grandmothers used to cook large meals on Sundays and the family would get together. We loved the family style serve and the food was wonderful. Price was extremely fair for 3... More

The food was very good, however, the service was under par but, in their defense, we did get there at the end of the lunch period and I think the service reflected that. Also, it took 10 minutes to find someone to seat us. But, again, the food was very good and if you are passing through it is worth... More

Restaurant was not busy, all food tepid temperature, nothing hot. Mashed potatoes were instant, we asked for gravy and didn't have milk gravy, but could dip brown gravy off the pot roast. Chicken and roast barely warm, creamed corn, Fried okra and most veggies close to room temperature. Had to ask for silverware, ice and more lemonade twice, staff seemed... More

So sorry your visit with us wasn't up to your expectations. With the parking situation, we are located on the town square of Dahlonega and parking is very limited. We must put up signs to save parking for our customers. The signs read "for Smith House customers only." As of the food temperature, hopefully a server was notified and are... More

As a native to the area, I remember the Smith House in Dahlonega from my growing up days, so when we needed a venue for a family Christmas luncheon the day after Christmas, and decided we would give it a go. I/we were most pleasantly surprised. It's a family stay restaurant, so all tables are served the 'mother lode.' Three... More

Unappetizing presentation, extremely unhealthy food, but very friendly staff. Typical southern cuisine presented in a basement style atmosphere. Wish we wouldn't have eaten here.

Family style, all you can eat good southern food. Chicken, roast beef, fish, and shrimp. Service was terrific. The Dillard House place in Dillard, GA, wishes they were this good. Plus, the wait staff here all speak English!

This is a great family style restaurant with an all you can eat service. When we visited, there were 3 different types of meat and several vegetable choices as well as a yummy dessert. It's located in the middle of the downtown area, so you can take in a few of the sights before or after dining. The collard greens... More
