Good food great for large groups

Set menu served family style. Fried chicken, ham, rolls, green beans, coleslaw, mac & cheese, collard greens, corn, strawberry shortcake. Food was good and plentiful. Definitely not the place to go if you are not very hungry. One set price. More of a cafeteria atmosphere than a restaurant one... read more

We had my husband's 65th birthday party at The Smith House. We had 15 family members and friends, and we were able to sit at one table, served family style by excellent wait staff. The food was delicious and appealing to people of all different food preferences. Fried chicken, roast, ham, fresh veggies like greens, stewed corn, green beans, and... More

The Smith House has been on the agenda for our family for years when we planned a visit to Dahlonega. It was always outstanding. But, the last couple of times we have been the food quality was not what we have come to expect. After our last experience with just mediocre food and less than warm service, we decided on... More

If you are in the mood for your grandmother's good Southern cooking or dare I say better than your grandmother's cooking, this is the place to go! The food was great and the next time I am in Dahlonega, I hope to stay here.

Decided to stop in and see if the Smith House was as good as we remembered, since it had been 15 years or so since we had been here. We were not disappointed. The food was good and plentiful. You enter into the gift shop and pay before going downstairs to eat. We were greeted immediately by a nice server... More

This is a fantastic family style restaurant - great service, delicious Homestyle food all in a rustic atmosphere. Be sure to look at the history of this restaurant on the wall and visit the gold mine.

This was our second stay at The Smith House. They have the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in! I have had back surgery, and usually wake up in pain when we stay in a motel. NOT HERE! Best night's sleep in a long time. Super relaxing atmosphere. Only down side of the trip was that the restaurant is... More

This is family style dinning. Fried chicken, mashed potatoes, fried okra, squash casserole, green beans, biscuits ... home cooking. This is a restaurant you'd want to go to with a family. Nothing romantic about this place. It can be very noisy. The wait staff is extremely polite, they are always right on top of refills and always making sure you... More

First, the food was great if you like country cooking. The waitress kept bringing bowl after bowl of food until we were finished. I will not return however, because when I asked about all the leftover food, they just throw it away. There were only 4 of us, and they brought enough for 6 on the first go-around and kept... More
