More food than you can eat

Great southern style food. Everyone in our party loved eating here. We were there during the candlelight Christmas event. Everyone had a wonderful time touring the town and eating at the Smith House.

Many people rave over this local icon but I was not impressed. The food tasted like it was dumped out of a can and warmed up. They seat you at long tables with lots of people that you don't know. Some folks like that but I'm not comfortable eating with people I don't know. The prices were very expensive for... More

Kinda expensive but a good price for basically unlimited food. Absolutely delicious selection, favs are the okra and fried chicken. Would appreciate lower prices since college students love the setting but can't afford eating there all the time.

The Smith House restaurant serves an all you can eat style meal with fried chicken, pot roast, ham, yeast rolls, collard greens, creamed corn, cole slaw, green beans and macaroni and cheese. You pay first then get your table. There are many large tables, a good place for groups of 15-20 people, but smaller tables as well. The food quality... More

This is a family-style restaurant like the Dillard House in Dillard, Georgia or the Daniel Boone Inn in North Carolina. So...if you're from New England and you want "prim and proper dining" you may want to pass, otherwise you'll be leaving a negative review about being "seated with strangers", or "they brought too much food", or the food was "southern... While on a Christmas trip we ate at the Smith House. It's southern cooking at its best. Everyone sits at big tables and passes the bowls around. It's like a family reunion only with strangers. The fried chicken wins hands down. It's all good and to top things off. It sits over a gold mine.

Almost always way crowded, so plan accordingly. Its good to great southern comfort food, but a little pricey, so bring your feed bag!

The food at The Smith House was great! The chicken is out of this world, and the fried okra is to die for!

New Years Day 2015. Black eyed peas and Collard Greens were on the menu. The collard green were the best I have ever had. The fried chicken was wonderful- even if they were out of thighs. We are plenty of chicken legs! The mashed potatoes were awesome. Shoot, nothing was bad! It is family style seating and our party of... More
