Southern Feast

One price but all you can eat Southern deliciousness including beverages and dessert. We enjoyed lunch of fried chicken, ham, collard greens, green beans, creamed corn, Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes, and more

I went to college in Atlanta back in the early 70s, so I was familiar with The Smith House but my husband had never been there. I think he was a little apprehensive about the "Southern country cooking" but was so impressed with the food. The house and grounds has been updated substantially since I was there some 40 years... The food was okay to good. Nothing outstanding. I was hoping for more variety than the usual corn, potatoes, fried chicken, etc.

One of the guides at the gold museum recommended The Smith House for dinner. Let me just say you won't leave there hungry. Everything was delicious. We were so full after the main course that we didn't have room for the dessert. There is also a gold mine shaft that you can look at after dinner.

OK, the food is not great, but it is good, and it's all you can eat. You will not leave hungry, they bring you 3 meats and 8 sides, plus bread and a strawberry shortcake for dessert. Reasonably priced for what you get.

My son & wife recently got married in the Dahlonega area and all the wedding party & family stayed at the Smith House. What a wonderful place to stay right in the heart of downtown Dahlonega. The hotel is within walking distance of restaurants, bars, and quaint shops. It was so nice to have all of us so close together... More

Had not been here for a number of years. We found the food to be even better this visit. The dining room was very clean with nicely set tables with condiments on each table. Very nice dishes (not melamine) and sparkling nice silverware. We were seated immediately and our beverages were out at once. This is a family style restaurant... More

I had eaten in the old house way way back and it was good. Now the food is mediocre and the service is the same. It seemed like a good idea but really is not worth the effort at all IMHO, The food is "OK" but when vacationing that is a disappointment.

It's been quite a few years since we visited The Smith House. It was much better than we remembered. In the past, if you had a small group, you were seated with other families. It just didn't feel clean. Now, they will seat you at your own table so you can share just like you would at home. Everything we... More
