Had a fabulous crab cake that was more than enough for one. Vegetables were fresh from the garden and bread was awesome. Well worth the visit. Country setting.

Our first visit, beautiful setting on the river outside, equally nice inside. I had a reuben which was excellent. My husband had a pretty tough veal parmigan sandwich. Server was great but it took almost 30 mins to get our food and there were only 5 other tables ??? I will go back for dinner to enjoy some of the... More

Enjoyed a quiet evening sitting by the river eating dinner. The tables were had a lovely scenic view. The food was very good (So good we went back the next day for lunch!) We started with the Chorizo stuffed dates. We ordered 1/2 an order and that was plenty for us. I had the Prime rib which was cooked perfectly... More

Went with another couple on a Friday night for the first time and found this to be a great place for dinner. Atmosphere inside and out, food quantities are generous and everything cooked perfectly. Had appetizers, crab cakes and spinach/artichoke dip, excelled quality, trout and chicken dishes. Can't say enough of the great experience. Servers were very attentive. Not sure... More

Ate here with a group of 10 during the week. Get ready for some large portions! The food was decent, but the service was very slow. We probably waited 20 minutes to get our checks and 20 more to get them back after paying. It's a little pricey, but the atmosphere it great and outside the beautiful. Gratuity is automatically... This old river house has been converted in to a restaurant. The air conditioner worked the day we were there. I got the impression that all food were cooked to order, so there was a 20 minute wait for our diner. I think the hostess should have provided bread on the table as we sat down. The crab soup was... The Oar House is a great place to visit while staying in Dahlonega. The food is great and the atmosphere is incredible. The old house has a porch and indoor seating with a huge deck right above the river. There's no beating the view and it is the perfect place to take your sweetheart.

You won't be disappointed. The food was great and so was the service. We ate on the patio overlooking the river. We had two children with us and they also enjoyed the food. They were able to walk along the riverbank until the food was ready.

The restaurant looks like a former hoarder lived there with nick-nacks and dust traps everywhere. During the heat of June, it was cooler outside of the restaurant than inside. I made a suggestion to the owner to open the doors to get a breeze in there and he said "NO". No explaination or thanks for the suggestion. Food: I ordered... More

I am sorry you visited us on the day our air conditioner broke. You are correct that it was quite warm that day. I don't recall speaking with you, but I did decide to keep the doors closed to contain whatever cool air I could. When that wasn't successful I did in fact open the doors. Later that evening the...
