Overpriced for plastic utensils and mediocre food. It seems that it is the only bbq in town. We've eaten there twice - first time for lunch and then for dinner. For lunch the portion of beef brisket was large and with no knife (who doesn't supply knives) I had to tear the meat with my teeth and spit out the... More

Great down home cookin'! I have visited the Smoking Gold BBQ many times and it is always great. The Brunswick stew is fantastic, the ribs are great and the pulled pork a treat. A short walk from the town square and a fun surprise in an converted gas station. LUV it!

Wife and I eat there semi often and it's always $25-30. Too much for the portions received but it's good bbq.

Excellent brisket, chicken, beans and Brunswick stew -- all great. Love the burnt ends sandwich with baked beans -- yum! I've eaten here about a dozen or more times -- inside and takeout also. Have also ordered several pounds of brisket and chicken for family get togethers -- everyone loved it.

Their brisket burnt ends are amazing! They use green eggs for their smoking and their beans and Brunswick stew shows great things. Try the corn souffle, it's almost like dessert!

BBQ is a subjective thing---everyone has different tastes, I have been to BBQ restaurants that are nothing special that others would drive an hour out of the way to get to. So when it comes to Smoking Gold, here are the basics: 1. Great selection of sides, the corn pudding and beans were excellent, 2. Prices: very reasonable, 3. Service:... More

The food was great, I had a pulled chicken BBQ sandwich and my husband had pulled pork. The service was friendly and the restaurant had a very small-town homey feel.

The meat was great -- very flavorful and moist. The sides could use some work. Service was pleasant and efficient. A great local barbecue option, especially for take out and a mountain picnic!

We stopped in on the Fourth of July. Restaurant was busy, but no wait for an outside table. Our waitress was a local college student. When we asked a question about the fireworks show later the evening, she acted annoyed and pointed out that she wasn't from here and had no idea. Interesting, because we were told the fireworks show... More

The BBQ is moist and delicious. It's cooked in the Green Egg, so it has a very good smoky flavor. The sauces are also very good. My daughter ordered the corn casserole and peach cobbler based on reviews she'd seen elsewhere, and they did not disappoint. You can eat outdoors with your pet or inside if you prefer. Highly recommend... More
