Freeman's Low Country has been one of my favorites for some time now. Steve Freeman, the original owner, is originally from the Georgia coast. Many of his recipes are family recipes. His gumbo is the best I've ever had. The fried and blackened shrimp are as good as if you were at the beach. The blackened catfish is very good.... More

We are new to the Covington area and are slowly trying to find the really 'good' places to eat. We love seafood and always look for the best local spot. We had driven by Freeman's several times, it always looked closed. They are actually closed on Mondays, but even the rest of the week the parking lot is almost empty.... More

First off let me say this is a tough town for restaurants there's plenty of them, but few that are really outstanding.. We've eaten at Low Country maybe a half dozen times, and most likely will again, The Low Country Fish Camp is pretty much the only seafood in town that isn't a chain. The food is good if you... More

I visited here for lunch. I am glad to see another seafood restaurant in the neighborhood. I ordered the catfish basket for $8.50 and a sweet tea. When my very sweet waitress brought my catfish basket to my table, I thought wow , is this all. It was one catfish fillet, two cold chewy hushpuppies and slaw . Everywhere I... More

First thing we noticed when we walked in was that it was small. Nothing wrong with that we were just surprised by the number of people that we hear talk about it. There was only one waitress at lunch, but I think they dont get a big lunch crowd. The owner greeted us once he noticed the waitress was busy.... More

Went there for lunch today. I ordered the oyster basket with slaw and hush puppies and my husband order the catfish basket. The oysters we a little to big for my liking and there was something different about the slaw....not sure what the taste was. My oysters tasted fresh which i was pleased with. I did enjoy the food I... More

In Covington because my husband had business, so our first night, I scoured TripAdvisor for the best seafood restaurants in the area since we made a pact we would only eat seafood while in the South. I picked this restaurant the first night, but when we were leaving the hotel, the hotel clerk discouraged us, and sent us in search... More

We live in Covington and eat out somewhere nice about once every 2 weeks. I wish that Freeman's would advertise more because they are off our usual route and I tend to forget about them - their food is delicious! We went the other night on a rainy, cold Tuesday and I was thrilled to see that word has finally... More

Good grief, we were amongst Steve's first customers! We love Freeman's and go regularly. It's a great place to take family, to go just because we crave a blackened grouper salad, or to get some real, good, down-home hushpuppies, slaw, shrimp or ... well, just about anything that's on the menu. Service is super, Steve is gracious and everyone always... More
