I like stopping in here for a change of pace. The people are nice, and a good atmosphere. The food is average, not bad. They tend to let the food stay out on the buffet too long before refreshing it. With that being said, I tend to get there late and they're winding for the evening. It is good enough... More

Went to the Hayseed Cafe last evening, mouth watering for the very best fried chicken ever. Drove nearly an hour and a distance of 35 miles in anticipation. However, when we arrived the restaurant was dark. A sign was on the door stating, "THE OWNER OF THIS PLACE MAY REOPEN IF HE CAN FIND A CREW WHO CARES". I do... More

Depending of the day-of-the-week, you might get seafood buffet (Fridays, frog's legs, whole catfish) or a standard buffet with a large selection of meats and southern-style vegetables. We ate there twice, once off the menu and the other time the seafood buffet. Both times the food was good and the service very good. I liked the liver-and-onions, tender, a big... More

Visited here Veterans Day 2013, Food is good and service is OK - not the best especially as we were visiting from the UK, had to ask for refill on coffee, server never came back unless I waved or grunted, Just felt a bit left out. Did notice some people leave with their plates still full but I found the... More

The locals said this was a great place to eat and, for the price, it was good. The lunch buffet is reasonably priced and there was an adequate selection of entrees with choices between beef, turkey, ham and chicken. It is nothing fancy but, if I am back in the area, I will return.

This Cracker Barrel want-to-be knock off is a decent place for breakfast. The buffet was better than anticipated with fresh cooked Southern breakfast food including cheese grits, sausage gravy and biscuits, hash brown casserole and more. The fruit selection, however, was disappointing considering the Farmers Market was across the street and several of their items were canned.

We stopped in to the Hayseed after visiting the big market at Webster and it was just perfect for what we wanted...a down-home place, no pretense, lots of food. There was a noon hour buffet for about $8....baked and fried chicken, spuds, corn, salads, buns, pickles, collard greens, soup, desserts. The place was full with heaping plates! Service was friendly...our... More

Ate there on a Friday night which is fish buffet night. Almost left because of the smell when we entered. Decided to order off the menu, ordered a hamburg steak medium which was cooked beyond well done and needed to be cut with a steak knife. (It had been a nice piece before it was ovecooked). Waitress never bothered to... More
