If you love clowns and breakfast this is the place to go in Venice, FL

Patches is a nice small and crowded diner with clowns hanging from the ceiling. We had breakfast at Patches which was good and reasonably priced. We had the usual eggs, bacon, toast and coffee all good. It is conveniently located at 501 Venice Ave. E. . No need to call for reservations. Patches... read more

This unpretentious diner is a good bet for breakfast IF you can get in! It is very noisy when crowded and you sit inches from the other diners. I don't know how the wait staff gets the food between the tables but I'm glad that they do! Their entrees are tasty and plentiful. My husband loves the kielbasa omelet while... More

Rode the bike path from Sarasota to Venice. We were looking for a place to eat. Over the bridge is old town Venice, jsut when I was about to take that bridge, right on Venice Ave right off the bike path is Patches. Menu is breakfast all day and it looked really good. We opted for lunch and had very... More

Stopped in after my latest colonoscopy. I was starving! Big surprise! It was almost 10 a.m. and the place was busy. We were seated immediately. I ordered the sausage biscuits and gravy, plus a buttermilk pancake. The two large biscuits were split and covered with thick, sausage filled gravy. The pancake was light and huge; filling the plate. I ate... More

Good food for the bikers on the trail. The Greece meals are just fantastic. Everyone in this place is just friendly. Sometimes it is like being at home. When you are on the bike trail at the train station in Venice ride away from the water. It is about two blocks on the left.

This is a neighborhood place that has great pancakes and even better prices. The pancakes are the size of a dinner plate!

First off the restaurant had a funny smell, like a combination of cigarettes and mildew. We got pancakes and French Toast. Pancakes were ok and French Toast were just sad. Would not go back.

My husband and I come to Patches at least once a month and have always received good breakfasts. Their huge pancakes are amazing --- you won't find any better. Place can get very crowded and restaurant can get a bit frenzied, but the morning good is always hot and good.

My mom has been going here for more than 20 years. The staff all know her, and treat her well when she visits, and by extension they treat me well. The breakfast is excellent. Eggs, bacon, toast, grits, sausage gravy, pancakes - all delicious. My friend had the sweet potato pancakes, which were out of this world.

We really should have left Patches within minutes of entering. The waitress was making coughing and sneezing noises which she sort of apologized for by saying that it was an allergy. That may be so but it was inexcusable for her to sneeze into her hand more than once. GROSS! As for the food, we both had a Western omelette.... More
