Loved the whole experience

We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Back Eddy with two couples. Waitstaff were friendly and attentive. Entrees exceptional and the Marsala chicken the best I've had. Loved the sides that came with it too. Restaurant is cozy and noise level is low and conversation is easy. Extensive wine list but... read more

Hidden jewel on the side street of downtown Venice. Dine inside or in the covered courtyard area. This is a neighborhood bistro which is well known to the locals. Be prepared to wait just a few minutes.

We have been to Back Eddy Bistro 4 of our 10 nights in the Venice area and will probably return once more before we leave. In an area with only pretty good food this place is outstanding. (Honestly, I wonder how most of the restaurants with such positive reviews in SW Florida would fare elsewhere... we have been more disappointed... More

We celebrated our anniversary and had a lovely evening at this unique hideaway on Miami Ave on Venice Island. The roasted beet salad was superb, followed by pistachio crusted duck and lemon baked for entrees. All were wonderful. Very fresh and simple/subtle prep you only get from a real artist in the kitchen. The food will bring us back but... More

Sharing dinner with family, had a wonderful experience. I had swordfish that melted in my mouth delicious. Brother-in-law had duck, sister-in-law had shrimp dish. All commented how fantastic they were.Ambiance just lovely, Cute little bistro. Reserve early. It gets busy fast. When in Venice, stop by, last building on left, on Miami ave, don't go down the street too fast,... More

Great restaurant for a special occasion. It feels like you are in Europe when you walk in! Everything was delicious and the service was impeccable. Even the chairs were extra comfortable. Quiet--perfect for a romantic dinner.

Leave Venice avenue and go to Miami Avenue for this small bistro. We dined in the back room with four friends. It was very quiet there. 5 of us had fish dishes- swordfish and grouper and one lamb. The fish was very fresh and prepared properly- not overcooked. The other diner stated her lamb was delicious and served medium as... More

The food was good and plentiful. Lot's of leftovers for sure. Bread was fresh and delicious. We would come back to give another try - the waitress was nice, but she didn't have it together at all. Didn't know the menu, forgot things, didn't realize menu issues (what could be 86'd and what couldn't). Took a really long time to... More

Our party of six enjoyed a variety of selections from their regular as well as special menu. My choice was the lamb chops. The sweet potato fries were excellent as was the accompanying reduction to the chops. The lamb itself was a bit overdone and very small portion. The other dishes seemed to be well received although there was some... More

The reason I am giving this place a poor review was not because of the terrible entrée my wife was served. And it's not for having to wait 45 minutes to get it. It's for the incredibly offensive attitude of the owners. We had gone to this place on a busy Friday night. They were obviously understaffed and we didn't... More
