Lots of food, different tastes

A very basic place with really interesting food. My partner had her very first Cuban sandwich and loved it.I had the Masas de Puerco (#16) which has large chunks of pork (some very moist with fat, some on the drier side) and sides. I finished half of my meal -- very good but a lot of food. The... read more

We stopped and bought the cuban sandwich. They were good! It was a huge sandwich about 10 inches long. We split the sandwich as it was that big. They serve other original cuban food.

We ordered roasted chicken, salad, rice and plantains for 20 people and we all had dinner for $83. Unbelievable, and there were leftovers too. Food was good and everyone ate their fill.

I knew I was at the right place when I was the only one in the place not speaking Spanish. We had the Cuban sandwich ($10.) with a side order of rice and black beans ($3.50). I am not an expert on Cuban food and probably have never had a real Cuban sandwich but we throughly enjoyed this. Lot of... More

I had never had a Cuban sandwich, so my husband and I each ordered one plus black beans & rice. What were we thinking? We should have split one. The rice and beans were average, but the Cafe' Con Leche was out of sight. First time for that and I had to buy a bag of their whole beans (from... More

We stopped here with my 86 year old mother. They took great care of her and wanted to make sure she enjoyed her meal. Walk up counter for takeout or eat in. I had a Cuban sandwich which was delicious; my Mom- a bean soup. Lechon (shredded roast pork) was tender and full of flavor. Wished we could have gone... More

When in Tavernier I just cannot start my day off without a coffee con leche from the Sunrise. I walk to Conch Republic Divers from the Island Bay Resort. The Sunrise is conveniently located about halfway. I walk up to the window, am greeted by the beautiful restaurant crew, and can watch the magic transpire. A sip or two later... More

Stopped in after reading the reviews and wasn't disappointed! Very authentic, very reasonable prices and the market next door has fantastic bread! If you are only interested in food, you should try it. If you want fancy decor and to be waited on hand and foot, consider somewhere else.

We've been a few times for the Cuban and Midnight sandwiches. The in-store fresh made rolls really make the sandwich special.

Never had Cuban food before. First time we went there we didn't understand the menu or the girls so they were a little standoffish. We got back to the hotel and we were blown away by how good the food was. The portions and the price led us to return the next day. Today the girls were much nicer than... More
