Thanks for the Memories- Plaka's will be missed

I have been going there for decades and geting the gyros sandwich. I started in 1978 and always tried to stop in when I was close. We went Nov 11 2014 and saw that it was closed. It seemed like it was done for as there was no flyer with an explanation on the door and the interior looked disheveled... More

My husband and I went to the sponge docks on November 1, 2014 for something to do, I've been eating at Plaka since the 80's and they have the BEST Gyros in the world!!!!!!! They were closed, it looked like the resturant had been cleaned out and shut down for good not even the signature rotisserie in the window, we... More

Food was very tasty; I had slovaki and it was delicious. My husband had a sandwich which he said was tasty. Service was fair and prices were reasonable.

Revisited Tarpon Springs after many years and the Gyro Sandwich at the Plaka was good as ever. The prices are very reasonable, the portions large, and quality excellent. We also had a Greek Salad with Potato salad - it was NOT good. The potato salad was bland and also had anise seed in it which was horrible. There was hardly... More

We've enjoyed the food here for years, then yesterday (8/20/14) our meal was awful. We had the saganaki, which was good, but we had to ask for pita bread since we didn't want to eat it with the rye bread brought to the table when we first sat down. My husband had the gyro and I had a salad with... More

We stopped here for lunch because we were told by locals that this place is THE place to go for the best gyros. My husband thought that the gyro was the best. I thought it was average. I was looking forward to a yummy Greek salad and wound up being disappointed because the dressing just didn't taste as good as... More

We have eaten here since 1985! Just a sweet family run business with wonderful food and affordable. Gyro souvlaki combo with a greek salad with potato salad. Best choice. Best meal. Everything made fresh with quality ingredients

We have eaten at most places in the sponge docks and today we were here. The menu is the most "American" of all the Greek places we've been. There were hamburgers on the menu. First time I saw that. Also the baby's grilled cheese would have came in regular bread if we hadn't asked for pita bread. I had the... More
