We have eaten at most places in the sponge docks and today we were here. The menu is the most "American" of all the Greek places we've been. There were hamburgers on the menu. First time I saw that. Also the baby's grilled cheese would have came in regular bread if we hadn't asked for pita bread. I had the... More

They're tag is " Best Gyro in the World" and they are SPOT on! Its a little place so you will need to park and walk to it. But is very much worth it!

Forget Mama's or Hellas - Plaka's is THE BEST! The amount of food you get for your dollar can't compare. The quality of the food is all handmade, not like Hellas and Mama's. (I found out they pre-make and freeze a lot of their popular foods, which really affects the quality. They also cut a lot of corners and use... More

If you read my reviews, you know that I like simple and easy. In this case we wanted just a sandwich - tasty food at a reasonable price. I explained to our server that I was introducing my kids to Greek food and wanted them to try a little different - Ashley suggested we do half a Gyro and the... More

If you are visiting the Sponge Docks in Tarpon Springs Plaka's is the place to go for a gyro. By far the best gyro in town, other good items on the menu but go for the gyro. The place is not fancy, with formica type tables but you go there for the food not the atmosphere.

Great gyro and souvlaki! I'm a local and we enjoy going to Plaka for "Greek fast food!" Plaka is in the Sponge Docks so the walk to and from the restaurant is always wonderful.

Back in 1975 there was a little sign hanging in front of a hole in the wall restaurant, "The Greek answer to the Big Mac" (or something close to that). My father couldn't resist, and so Plaka's and the gyro entered my life. I now live in California, but every visit to see my Mom, Dad passed away two years... More

Our first clue should have been the place was nearly empty on Valentine's Day, when all other restaurants in the area were bustling and packed. We ordered calamari - 10-15 minutes later the server comes out and says they are out. Not sure why it too that long to figure out they were out. I paid almost $15 fora souvlaki/gyro... More
