This restaurant was recommended to me and my friend while we were in Safety Harbor watching the manatees so we went there for lunch. We had the Greek salad for a starter and then the Greek sampler to share for our main course. I have a Greek friend that is an amazing cook so I've had fantastic Greek food many... More

Very, very good authentic Greek that rivals more expensive places. A few in our group had lamb shish kebab, very good. Roast potatoes, amazing; greek salad, tasty; fried calamari, delish; gyro, yummy... And did I mention the free fried Saganaki (cheese)? Excellent. They even gave us free dessert, a not too sweet custard thing (kind of like rice pudding but... More

I had the stuffed grape leaves (as you can tell), my sister had the gyro plate and we shared. We arrived at noon (Sunday) and there were not many people there, I thought oh, oh. No problem with my request to eat outside. By the time we left an hour later the people were streaming in and I found out... More

Noisy, cramped, the wait staff can barely get around. We were inside, outside looks a little less cramped. I had an uninspired lamb shank, served on round linguini, swimming in a sauce that was 50% grease 50% tomato. Oh by the way if you have a kitchen everyone can look into it is a good idea to scrape the crusty grease off everything once in... More

The food was good, however, the service we received there was by far the worst I have EVER had at a restaraunt. It took at last 10 minutes to even get someone to take our drink orders and then when she did finally come over she looked like she had sucked on a lemon. She was dismissive with us throughout... Enjoyed lunch very much. Authentic Greek food and good service with a friendly attitude. Not on the water, but obviously a "locals" choice.

Thanks to all the positive reviews on TA, we had an easier time with the extensive menu of Greek favorites. Family atmosphere with family running the show..Mama was on her feet in the kitchen the whole time. Started with Greek salads and chicken-lemon soup with no complaints. Octopus was served sliced, which was much more appealing to look at and... More

I have eaten in a lot of the Tarpon Springs restaurants over the last 30 years. Most of the restaurants are tourist traps and you do not even see a local. I have never been to Mama Maria's before. I judge the Greek food by the Calamari and octopus, since it is from local waters. Mama's fried Calamari was very... More
