The Krewe of the Black Pearl - Appreciates Gaspar's Grotto

We had our 2015-2016 meeting at Gaspar;s - Great accommodations for this event. Only complaint is the waitress we had did not seem able to keep up. The chicken tenders that were ordered were almost black and very dry. We think they forgot about them and my devil crab. We had to ask for them. I... read more

Enjoyed our time at Gaspar's. It was our first time in the Ybor district. Clearly need to return on a weekend night. Our food was good. I had fish tacos. We ate outside so could see the street and people watch. Entire area has a rich history.

Friday was the 2nd time I had been to Gaspar's for dinner with family from outta town. The first time, I took a chance and got the clams and mussels pesto linguini and it was GREAT. This time I went with the belly busting Pork Belly Burger and it was one of the best burgers I have had. Don't let... More

I don't know why anyone would give Gaspar's less than a perfect rating. Their food is delicious and the drink specials are great. We hosted our rehearsal dinner there for our wedding and everything was fantastic. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The food is really out of this world and we had a great time dancing to the... More

Definitely a good place to visit for moderately priced drinks in Ybor City, but the food left something to be desired. The Cuban Sandwich was a little fatty and had very little flavor, the plantain chips were saturated with overused frying oil. The Cuban pork was average. The beer was cold, the drinks were average strength. Hang out at the... More

We stopped here for lunch, and it is an "adult" pirate-themed bar and restaurant. The portions were generous, the food was good, and the service was attentive. Our table had the pulled pork quesedillas, the chicken tenders, and the cuban sandwich. The cuban had pulled pork, not the processed type that other restaurants generally use. The prices were appropriate for... More

Disliked: warm beer and uncomfortable seating (outside patio). Service was OK but not impressive. The place is made for live music and we listened to a very well-rehearsed and talented group, LOTP. Casual dining and drinkers mix in the outside venue. We didn't eat so I can't comment on that.

The setting, in a courtyard, was very nice on this April evening. The server was friendly, the menu had a lot of options and the food was good. Overall we had a pleasant dining experience and had no complaints. As we were about to leave the entertainer for the night arrived and though we only stayed for a couple of... More

This restaurant is in historic Ybor City. It is very eclectic and casual. The sangria is great. My husband and I shared a fabulous cuban sandwich and guacamole and chips. The outdoor dining was great for people watching. I would definitely go back!
