Price range: $7 - $20
Cuisines: Pizza
Good for: Families with children
Description: Wanting a cozy place to enjoy a cold beer and a really good pizza, My husband & I opened the original Cappy's while we were still in college. That was almost 19 years ago. Since then, we have been blessed with a fantastic staff- some of whom have moved on to open their own partnership Cappy's stores! With locations in South Tampa (the original), Seminole Heights, St Pete, Brandon, Tampa Palms and Cedar Rapids, Iowa (I know, but it is my home town) we strive to maintain a relaxed, homey atmosphere. We specialize in pizza, but we do serve a mean greek salad, breadsticks and cheesebread. Our philosophy is to keep it simple, and excel in what we do best- which is pizza. We do, however, pride ourselves with an extensive micro/import beer selection. So, come join us for a delicious pie and maybe a beer that you've never heard of. Oh, and bring the kiddos- we are family friendly!

This is the best deep dish pizza I've ever had, and I'm usually a thin crust kind of guy, I have been there in many ocasions for the Chicago style pizza which my girlfriend loves. The only thing they should take to attention is to accept credit cards its a cash only place.

I am on a mission to find decent Pizza in Tampa. We were referred here …. not so much. The pizza base was perfect and crispy just how I like it - but the toppings were awful and insipid. They basically make cheese pizza and then just throw ham & pineapple (our choice) on top. So when you pick it... More

Went to Cappy's based on recommendation from a good friend. Turned out to be really good. We tried one New York and one Chicago just to get a good sampling of both styles. We especially liked the deep dish. We were a little bit leery of the thick tomato sauce on top at first, but it tasted just fine. Have... More

OBNOXIOUS waitress. Wouldn't ever go back. My friend got a free pizza certificate for moving here-- worst mistake to go there. Gourmet Pizza Company on Armenia Ave is Amazing. Cappyy's is horrible people, worst attitude. Said no Chicago pizza for you. Greek salad was disgusting. Didn't listen to other people's reviews. My BAD

Food was great, super nice waitress but service fell short only because there were only 2 for the entire restaurant. Not so friendly guy behind bar gave us some attitude when we were trying to pay so we could leave. Overall it was good just a bit of conflict seems to have spoiled meal though.

This place is really great, it has a cool atmosphere and its a nice place to come. The pizza is also good, I enjoy the deep dish or "Chicago style" pizza the best. There NY style pizza is just okay for me. It is def some of the best pizza that I have had in Tampa.

Any review about cappies that does not give five stars is total BS. The pizza here one of my absolute favorites. We always get a few salads as well. The house and Greek are to die for. Anyone who complained about getting their food too slow is obviously a regular at a fast food resteraunt. Good fresh pizza will take... More

I went to Tampa to visit my friends and we went to Cappy's. Some of the best pizza ever. I don't remember them telling us they didn't take credit cards. We payed cash. It doesn't matter to me. Our state fair only takes cash for food. The decro. was very cool with all the albums covers. The staff was very... More

Turn off the AC if you're not gonna be in the 21st century. If a business doesn't take credit card and is only cash, I'll never return again. Especially when I ask to talk to the manager and am told they don't want to talk to me. I don't get it. My hair dresser is self employed and takes credit... More

While I appreciate your opinion, and in fact welcome constructive comments, your accusations are reckless. We do not take credit cards for two reasons: 1, when we opened nearly 20 years ago, debit cards had not yet made the scene and not many folks were paying for a pizza with a c/c. I agree that it is out of the... More

Cappys! It starts with the menu! I want to see all of them.....they are real album covers - the real ones from the old days. Then, Greek salad big enough for the table to share and so tasty! Breadsticks or cheesesticks...don't skip these. I had the NY Veggie pizza (small size would be plenty for 2) and my date had... More
