Excellent Peruvian cuisine; Out of Business

A friend of mine happened across this gem of a Peruvian restaurant. Managed to eat there about 4 times only to discover it had gone out of business recently. Why do the really good authentic ethic restaurants die out in Tallahassee while deep-fried chain restaurants flourish? They're Lomo... read more

This has to be the worst Peruvian restaurant I have ever visited. I went there because of the good reviews I had read here and my passion for Peruvian food. I was truly misguided by some of you. I hate when family members or friends of business owners write great but false reviews. Please DO NOT DO THAT! It is... More

Husband and I went this morning... I had the chorizo and eggs over grits, and he had a few different things. My plate was not great. I'm a lightweight as far as spice goes, and this was very bland... My husband ordered one of the beef empanadas. The meat mix inside was good, and the sauce on the side was... More

Great food, if you are looking for a small taste of Peru, this is the place to go. The staff are really nice and friendly. One plate can fill you up for the rest of the day. After I eat here I leave happy and full. You can always call in advance and they will have your food ready by... More

The quality of the food is so so. Do not go with much expectations. The portions are small for the price. We will not go again.

We are sorry you were not pleased with your serving portions. We wish you had alerted us when you were at the restaurant to rectify any serving errors. We are frequently told our prices are very reasonable for the quantity and quality of our food. It would help to know exactly what you ordered to look into it further. Regards. More

The Turnover Cafe is great! This is a small locally-owned boutique-sized restaurant featuring Peruvian food, beer and wine. The owner is Peruvian-born, and a great cook. Prices are very reasonable, e.g. large beef or chicken or chicken & cheese or feta & spinach empanadas (stuffed pastry turnovers) are $4-5. Food is fresh and delicious, the cook/owner Gigi and her staff... More

I love this place so much! I have been (through marriage) a part of the Peruvian-American community for almost 30 years. I visit Peru pretty much every 2 or 3 years. Sometimes I need a dose of good Peruvian food and The Turnover Cafe always hits the spot. My MIL used to prepare Causa (kinda like cold Shepherd's Pie) but... More

This is a small Peruvian resturant offering (you guessed it) Peruvian food. I had the Saturday empanada which was filled with pork and plantain. The pork was well flavored and the plantain added just the right amount of sweetness. It was the crust, however, that made me really love it. It was flakey, rich, and crisp the way a well... More

This little restaurant serves up wonderfully fresh homemade turnovers and pasta. The staff are welcoming and friendly, and the food is absolutely delicious. The prices are very good, but some dinner items can get a little pricey, so there are options for any budget. The atmosphere is ambient and pleasing and the dining area, while small, is roomy and not... More

The turnover cafe is a small, quaint establishment. I tried them for lunch one day, and I ordered the turnover/Empanada of the day (Creamy Chicken) and there was nothing creamy about this turnover... dryer than the Sahara. Wasn't the great turnovers that I read about in the reviews. I figured that I may have picked the wrong one. Then, I... More
