Went there twice in four days

They have a really charming interior courtyard where you can sit outside and eat or in the booths of the old market itself. The fried shrimp basket was really, really good. The gumbo was also fantastic. We heard a lot about their cheeseburgers and we got them as take out on another evening... read more

We've eaten here since the grouper sandwich was $4.95 (with fries) and that's been a while. We were all sad when we heard it was to be demolished for the sake of 'progress' but it was to move up the road a mile. That move didn't work out and the owners, in January 2016, posted a nice sign on the... More

Went for lunch and it's closed! So sad! But, be warned. The Snappy Turtle next door has been demolished - some new development. Market building still standing but door and windows out.

First, you will have wait a year until they build their new place. Next, it is worth the wait! Hush puppies were not th best but the shrimp dishes were superb.

Two of us dined here at about 6:30 PM, just before the place became very busy. It's an historic location that has been here since 1949, so the self-promoting, looping video says in the dining room. There is also outdoor seating available. You will feel comfortable here in beach attire. No need for dressing up. The menu is not huge,... More

I found this place after seeing other reviews on Trip Advisor. It did not disappoint. It looks like a little hole in the wall place and it is, but the food is really very good here. We ate there twice. First time we had the chicken strips, which were huge and absolutely delicious. The second time we had the Grouper... More

While the service was great, my family and I were really disappointed in the quality of the food, especially for the prices charged. The fried oysters that were just okay, and husband's hamburger (supposedly voted the "best of 30A") was a preformed tasteless patty, and my teenage daughter's chicken tenders were unedible (I tried them too- strange texture and taste).... Husband had fried shrimp, said it was very good. I had blackened fish tacos and it was excellent!! Sad this place is moving, hopefully it will keep everything the same.

The best casual beach food around. It's like a diner in the back of a convenience store, but the food is great and very reasonable. An historic treasure!
