Primo was primo!!

This unassuming somewhat schlocky italian restaurant not far from Sarasota's airport was a very pleasant surprise. We went early and it was packed with more than a few snowbirders (like us). I was apprehensive that we would get an Olive Gardens style meal but I was mistaken. The food was basic... read more

My BFF and I were in town for a half marathon and was looking for a restaurant in order to "carb load" and a sweet lady named Ms. Rose recommended Primo! So glad she did!!! This was one of the best Italian meals that I've ever had, so tasty and just full of flavor and prices are appropriate. The atmosphere... More

I read a lot of varied reviews before we tried it. It's nothing special. I agree with some of the comments that Carabbas is better...and for Italian... That says a lot. They are in the south and don't serve sweet tea. Calamari is frozen and way overcooked. Bread is blah. I had ziti and was way way too much cheese.... More

Great authentic Italian restaurant. Breads and dipping oils were delicious. Our pizza was delicious! Very thin crust cooked perfectly. Sauce and toppings had a nice taste. They even put green beans on our pizza, which was very flavorful! Spaghetti and meatballs were also delicious. They have their own salad dressing they bottle and sell. It was very light and flavorful.... More

Wife and I have eaten here a dozen times, always thought it was great. Ate there last night for her birthday, and was a little disappointed. I think it was due to being Saturday evening and crowded. My usual entree with cod and pasta was not up to par. The fish, obviously was just de-thawed, as it was watery. Wife's... More

I don't like to complain about a restaurant, but I also think accurate reviews are important. Our waiter could have cared less about our table. No water, no drink refills, mistaken orders, just a mess. I guess this restaurant is trying to run on past reputation. Too many other great restaurants in the area to visit.

When was the last time you visited a bar/restaurant and left wishing you didn't have to go? From the fabulous aromas of fresh bread baking and sauces simmering, to the warm welcome from the bartender, and delicious pasta, we couldn't have found a better place for dinner in a city new to us! Primo! Ristorante is a "find" AND a... More

My husband and I like to try local restaurants when we travel and went to Primo. It was... primo! We immediately felt an old-world charm, intensified because we could see it was family-run and many of the tables were repeat customers that were treated like family. Before 6 if you bought a drink the pastas were half price! I had... More

I was at this restaurant the night it opened many years ago and I looked forward to going last night, Dec 13. The first disappointment was when I asked the server if she could add onion to my salad and she said it would be extra--as if I had ordered it on a pizza. Really? These house salads are very...
