My favorite seaside place in Sarasota

A grouper sandwich, some fries and a cold beer and I'm transported back to the Salty Dog. Oh wait, I am here. This is a regular stop for a late lunch when in Sarasota or south Longboat Key. Good food and great atmosphere to while away an hour or two, have lunch and watch the pelicans dive bomb the... read more

I wish I could give this zero stars! This is my first negative review on trip advisor. Worst dinning experience I ever had. Ordered seafood chowder to go ($6.00) they gave me 4 Oz of broth. Beers were $4.25 a bottle. No one welcomed us, service was poor. Total tourist trap. The good news is I'll never spend another penny... More

Went here on May 31. We have been coming here for years on our annual summer trips to Sarasota. We love it! The kids get their meals in a frisbee, the adults can enjoy a delicious blackened grouper sandwich and a cold beer all while sitting on a table over the ocean. We spotted dolphins swimming while eating our lunch!... More

nice atmosphere but a little pricey. Nice waterfront dining but small menu. Nice place to take the family and relax

We decided to try something new for father's day. Our daughter had the corn dogs. Too much batter and no flavor. I had the Cajun blackened mahi mahi. Way too much spices overpowered the fish and it was hard to enjoy the fresh fish. My plate was $24 for a PC of fish, a whole bunch of Cole slaw and... More

We stopped in for lunch for my wife's birthday. Was very busy but we found a spot out front right away and did not have to wait for a table. We decided to eat outside to enjoy the sunshine and watch the wildlife and boats go by. Lunch came quickly. The food was good, exactly what I would expect. The... More

Service was average.. Even though it wasn't busy. My burger was way over cooked. Not the worst experience I've had but very far from the best.

If you're headed to the Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium the Old Salty Dog is on the same road and has a nice water view from just about every table inside and out. We sat on the deck and there was a lovely breeze that made it perfect outdoor dining weather. We were celebrating the Hubster's birthday so we started... More

View is great as well as the food. Great service and a really good mudslide for those hot Florida afternoons.

We wanted to check out a few places that had great views on the water. My wife got the deep fried salty dog that was on the man vs food show. Great views and saw plenty of dolphins!
