Great Greek food in Sarasota

El Greco is an authentic Greek restaurant in downtown Sarasota. It's a local favorite and predictably good. I have dined here numerous times, always enjoyable. This week four of us had a nice dinner with Gyros, the Greek Sampler Platter, and the daily fish special (Corvina). All entrees were... read more

Opa, great Greek food. Service and atmosphere very nice but the food was great. As close to being in Athenia as you can get without the long plane ride. Folks, you need to stop in here and partake of all the foods. Great experience.

Been here numerous times on our trips to this area and the food has always been dependable. Service is always gracious and the food is always solid. I'm a big fan of the Gyro. Save room for the desserts! Currently the area is undergoing street construction so be prepared to walk around to get here, but it's worth the little... More

El Greco is an exceptional restaurant. We Love Greek food, and El Greco has the best Greek food in Sarasota. We go fairly often and are never disappointed. This Mediterranean Cafe is at the corner of Main and Orange streets. You may eat outside (city view) or inside. It's reasonably priced and the food tastes fresh. I had a special--white fish with a nice sauce, sauteed veggies and potato for $18.99. I'd go back again, especially for the Greek salad. It's the best. My husband had the meat... More

The tzatzike is homemade, we've never had anything like it, Delicious. They allowed us to piece together a meal from different items on their menu and everything we tasted was wonderful. The staff was attentive and helpful. We weren't expecting the food to be 5 star but were pleasantly surprised. We were just disappointed that we were too full to... More

Tried the "Mad Greek" stromboli. Idea was to mix the Greek & Italian. I think we would have done better to go straight Greek with a Gyro or strait Itilian with a traditional stromboli. The "Mad Greek" was okay, but the tang in the roasted meat wasn't as noticable. A friend in the party had the gyro platter and enjoyed... More

Wonderful Greek food. Prices are reasonable (very). Nice friendly staff. There's a wide selection of appetizers good size portions so if you want you can make that dinner along with a Greek salad. The Calamari was one of the best I've ever had as was the Octopus -incredibly tender. The wine list offered a good selection of Greek wines and... More

This was our third or fourth visit to the restaurant for their special Greek night, with live band, held on the last Thursday of the month. Our experience this time was a bit different. We knew that one of the musicians had died and was replaced. That, of course, changed the group's sound a bit. The same singer was there.... More
