Good food and drinks, served quickly

The Old Salty Dog on Siesta Key is not waterfront, like the one on Ken Thompson Pkway, so the atmosphere is very different. Very casual. The food and service are both very good. Drinks are interesting and tasty, and the spicy crab dip and grouper egg rolls were delicious. The dog bites are... read more

Key Lime Pie Pina Colada!!!!! Totally worth the calories. We had them with their dog bites and grouper nuggets. Both had breading that was light and crispy. Perfect for a mid afternoon snack. Very dog friendly as well.

Excellent fish tacos and burgers. Also was the best tasting Bloody Mary we had on the entire vacation. Courteous, quick and friendly service.

The Salty Dog isn't trying to be anything special - it does what it does well and efficiently. This isn't fine dining by any stretch of the imagination, but it isn't meant to be. it's a great place for families but we liked to pop on down to 'The Dog' on a Sunday night for a generous plate of blackened... Yes, this is a seafood restaurant but they also have the best fried hot dogs anywhere. My Dad always shares the Fish and Chips since they give you enough fish and fries for two. We don't eat fried food all the time, so live a little and enjoy it! The waterfront dining there has one of the best views of... More

Old Salty Dog is tired and worth a skip unless it's the only place without a big crowd and you are too hungry too wait for a table. That is why we stopped in and were disappointed. The grouper sandwich was just average and we felt like the restaurant was satisfied enough to just get the overflow crowd.

On a trip to Long Boat Key Florida, the Salty Dog is a must stop...just ask Guy. Great outdoor dinning spot with tasty deep fried deliciousness. Try their hawaiin dog, or grouper bites, or fish sandwich or...well you get the idea. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu really. If you can't make it to Sarasota they have... More

We visited Siesta Key Village one afternoon and was hungry for lunch. Walked most of the area and decided on The Old Salty Dog. We like fried seafood and this was okay and satisfied that craving. My wife ordered the fried shrimp platter and I got the fried oysters. There was plenty of quantity of the fries and the seafood.... More

Typical casual seafood restaurant at the northern end of the busy village area. We sat outside with a party of 6. Oysters were average price but larger than most we got elsewhere. Conch fritters were decent. Mostly fried foods with fries. Good beer selection. The loaded salty dog was very large and interesting. I would go back for sure.
