After a quick visit to Mote Marine, we walked across the street to The Old Salty Dog, drawn in by my love of bulldogs. They have fabulous seating that has a great view of the bay and the food was excellent. Against my normal choice I had the salty dog (somewhat like a corndog, but better) with cheese and onions.... We brought our dog and the management/owners loved it. Very accommodating and friendly staff. Was perfect to sit outside on the deck watch some NFL have a few beers and have our dog with us.

We've eaten at the Salty Dog on Longboat Key, across from Mote Marine Labs, quite a few times and found it to be very good. We decided to try the location in Siesta Key Village. We were disappointed. I ordered my usual fish and chips. My wife had a grouper sandwich, She did better than I did. Her sandwich was... More

Came across this restaurant a few years ago on the Travel Channel. After visiting, it’s now a must for me anytime I’m passing through Sarasota, even if it means taking a 10 mile detour off of I-75 to the City Island location. Though known for their hotdogs, the beer battered fish sandwich (Grouper) is my favorite with a side of... More

Had to come here on our Florida road trip from the U.K. As probably mentioned many times before, saw this on Man v Food.So me and our Son went for the fully loaded Dog.It was very good and tasty, servers were good, place wasn't very busy so maybe the T.V. Effect is wearing off.Cant comment on the rest of the menu but it... More

Sitting outside on the deck is better than eating inside. The food is wholesome with plenty of choice both of mains and sides. Daily specials are listed on a board. Portions are 'American' in size! We had grouper which was very tasty. The wine we ordered was good too. Good food at reasonable prices.

This place had a cosy bar feel about it. The food was unremarkable but tasty and well served. The fish gumbo starters were interesting packed with fish but could have been spicier. The clam chowder was very good. Main courses of blackened mahi mahi sandwiches were up to Gulf Coast standard and good value. Carafe of very acceptable Chardonnay was... More

This was a spur of the moment stop. British owners. The fish and chips were outstanding. We'll be back when we visit the island again.

My husband and I both had the Caribbean jerk mahi tacos. We both ordered them differently (as he is a bit picky). They came as we ordered and were hot. The service was suburb! We enjoyed the atmosphere and got a seat right away. We will return on our next trip.

Waited at table for 15 minutes before waiter arrived (after another waiter went looking for him) brought out menus then disappeared for another 15 to 20 minutes asked us what we wanted to drink, placed our orders then disappeared again after some time he brought out the drinks then took of again before we could place our food order. We... More
