The restaurant has received numerous accolades including the acclaimed Insegna Del Ristorante Italiano awarded by The Minister of Agriculture & Commerce in Rome. With its highest honor, inducting the restaurant into its Accademia Italiana della Cucina "Fine Dining Hall of Fame." Mediterraneo has been rated as Best of the Best in Sarasota Magazine since the first year of opening. So whether you're celebrating a special occasion or grabbing a quick bite to eat, at Mediterraneo you are always assured the best quality food accompanied by excellent service. We have dined here frequently and have never been disappointed. The Osso Bocho is great. The veal chop parmigiana is huge and delicious. Enough for two. If you want good Italian food this is the restaurant to visit.

As the reviewer says below, with a restaurant this popular and always with pressure on the kitchen you may find the odd lapse in quality. But as a diner here for many, many years these odd lapses are very infrequent. What you will find when visiting The Med is a staff very willing to help, quick efficient service as good... More

By the refurbished interior one could be in New York or London The service is excellent but unfortunately the cuisine does not match For instance lamb shank was indeed tender but risotto was like a packet of Uncle Ben instant rice. Pity because this is still one of the best ambiance restaurants in town

First the minuses: This place is very noisy. Those at our table had trouble hearing each other. Now for the food. My date had the lasagna and was disappointed with the over cooked pasta and mushy texture. I had the stromboli which was very good but had little in the way of ingredients inside. The wine list is varied and... More

When it comes to evaluating restaurant reviews which ones have credence? Are those people who write stellar reviews regarding food quality truly qualified to make such a statement? What tastes good to one person might not be what another person believes to be acceptable. Mediterraneo has gotten away with serving mediocre food, at unreasonably high prices, served by a wait... Let's start, the Food, Service and atmosphere are exceptional, (Calamari & Frutte De Mare). I was there on a Business Dinner, this Restaurant was recommended by an Associate. They truly care about their customers. For desert, they gave us each a Lemonchello (SP) complimentary!

Mediterraneo on main Street Sarasota is as good as an American Italian restaurant can be. Large menu with all the standard plates you would expect, nice wine list, pasta cooked properly. chicken parm very good and service excellent. The linin on the table makes you immediately feel you are dining out and is not the ordinary in most italian restaurants.... More

We had no idea what to expect when we walked into this restaurant with our two young (gourmet) grandsons, prior to enjoying a movie literally across the street. Dressed casually, we were greeted with white cloth tablecloths, waiters in "dress" uniforms (no, not dresses), a maître d', and dressed up diners, we were initially a bit intimidated. But the waiters... More

Mediterraneo is one of the places to go in Sarasota if you want to people-watch--you'll see many of the well-known musicians, writers, etc. who make their homes there. Very popular local scene, excellent bar. Food is really Italian and pretty good. I've been here twice recently--pasta was quite good, but I found the pizza (which people rave about) just okay.... A friend and I recently had dinner at this upscale, Italian Restaurant located in the heart of downtown Sarasota. We had a wonderful dinner with great service. I had the gulf shrimp over pasta and it was absolutely delicious. The ambiance reminded me of an excellent NYC restaurant. It is across the street from a movie theater so when we... More
