Tonight, here at Mediterraneo I ate one of the most memorable meals I can recall. The dishes ordered were nothing fancy, however, they were done to perfection! My wife and daughter shared an order of gnocchi with a four cheese sauce. They asked for a small side dish of red sauce-no problem. I saw lasagna on the menu for just... More

If you're studying Italian, or planning a trip to It'ly, this is the place to try. Everyone working here speaks Italian, and the food is the real deal. We went tonight based on proximity, the restaurant is immediately across from the theater where the Sarasota Film Fest is showing most of their films, so we parked, sipped great pours of... More

We were looking for a nice pizza place to enjoy a meal with friends and this was recommended. We ordered 3 different kinds of pizza to share and they were all great. Very classy decor, friendly service. The friends we were with have eaten here before as they live in Sarasota. I would recommend this to anyone visiting the area.

This is a very nice classy Italian Restaurant and very nicely decorated. We went for the pizza as we had heard it was the very thin kind we like and very good. It was the best pizza I have had in Florida. We will go back for a dinner sometime as the menu looked great and the dishes of the... More

I went to Sarasota to visit my sister last week. I wasn't to keen on going to an Italian restaurant in Florida. I know I may be unfair in saying this but living in New York City my entire life and being in the restaurant business I must say good Italian food is hard to come by. Walking in we... More

Stop into Mediterraneo after the movies across the street or just go for dinner. The thinnest, crispiest pizzas in all sorts of varieties. Salads are yummy and fresh and appetizers are good also. This is a regular stop for my family when we are in town. Don't miss it!

I am tough on Italian food because I lived in Bologna Italy as a kid, and I know what is good. Most Italian American food is not good. Over salted. Over sauced. Not very well made. Mediterraneo is the real deal. Not cheap, but reliably good. The pasta and veal dishes are great, but believe it or not, I come... More

Three visits, three winning experiences. Mediterraneo's menu is compact yet manages to be comprehensive. The food is seasoned with authority, not oversauced and handsomely presented. The wine list is comprehensive and decently priced. The service is friendly. The seating comfortable. What else could one ask for? Well, perhaps better sound baffling, as the decibels rise during peak dinner hours. Aside... More

Mediterraneo has a rather unique menu and the food is quite good. I had the sauteed calamari with small tomatoes in a tasty broth for appetizer and the linguine fruitti mare for an entree. The former was very good and the latter different than I expected. I choose it over the black linguine with shrimp in a spicy tomatoe sauce... More

Quick look: Authentic Italian dishes created with love. Expect traditional Italian ingredients with modern flair. Restaurant will be busy during dinner hours so go ahead and make a reservation. Solid all the way around, can be a top contender with a few minor tweaks. In depth review: Was visiting my NY transplant family that lives in the Sarasota area and... More
