Good Fish No Ambiance

The fish selection is good and the preparation of the fish was good. There service was average. I do not like buffets and don't like salad buffets. I would rather have a salad prepared for me. The restaurant needs some updating. I felt the meal was a good value.

It had been about a year since we had dinner there. Since we always liked it and they now had a full bar, we decided to return. For the first time we were very disappointed with the food we ordered. Two of us ordered the 1.25 lb. lobster special which were okay except the vegetables were cooked [microwaved] too long.... More

great fish selection! Food comes quick and it is so fresh. The salad bar could use a little rejuvenation but all in all amazing place and I always make sure to go when I am in Sarasota

The food has definitely lost something since the restaurant has gotten bigger but it's still a good bargain

We keep going back to this place before Asolo because of its proximity. I guess we are gluttons for punishment. In my prior review 2 years ago, I characterized this place as diner food at higher prices. Hasn't changed much. Salad bar is still tired, my swordfish dinner was dry and tasteless, rolls were still cheap, etc. They don't take... More

I am not a tourist, but a permanent resident, anD I have been eating in this restaurant for years. The seafood used to be respectable, but a recent visit was certainly my last. How about a combination platter for $21.00 that wouldn't have made a good appetizer.....A diminished wiped out salad bar, cold ,cheap, rolls with no butter....Four cout em, four... What a treat. You will not be disappointed in the seafood dishes at Captain Brian's. I have not tried the any of their beef, pork or chicken dishes, only their seafood. The place smells like a fish market, but that only enhances the experience and when you have enjoyed a super great meal, you may want to take some fresh... More

The place filled up quickly around lunchtime. The creamy seafood chowder was delicious. A bowl would have been a meal. My wife’s blackened grouper was excellent in size and flavor. She enjoyed the slightly spicy black beans and the salad bar. My whole belly clams were a disappointment. Small, chewy, probably should have been used as bait or in a... More

Went to Sarasota to meet with my cousin. She picked the restaurant and I was pleasantly surprised at how great it was. It is very casual which made it feel homey. The salad bar had a lot of choices. I ordered the fresh swordfish for my entree. I always worry that it will be over cooked. But it was prepared... More

What Captain Brian's lacks in ambiance, it makes up for in fresh seafood, salad bar and excellent pricing. There never seems to be enough staff BUT the staff they have is very friendly and accommodating. Best price I have seen in a very long time on Maine lobster! Most dinners come with two sides, one selection being the salad bar... More
