This old fashioned, family owned coffee and ice cream shop is located in Captain Curt's Village a few hundred yards south of the Stickney point (south bridge). It is beside the bike and kayak rental shop. They are super friendly and have a gourmet coffee bar, fresh baked goods and 26 flavors of hand churned, homemade ice cream. It is my favorite local coffee shop! I've never left disappointed.

Best ice cream ever!

While we were on vacation my father and I happened upon the Orange Octopus and we are glad that we did!!! The ice cream was so good and it was homemade. We both ordered double scoops and they were generous scoops. A place to definitely visit for ice cream on your next trip to Sarasota.

We happened in on a whim. Doesn't look like much from the outside and it's somewhat sparse on the inside, but boy is their ice cream good! As an ice cream shop, they definitely place their focus where it should be...providing really good ice cream. After finishing my two flavors, I helped my wife finish hers. All four flavors were... We have tried Big Olaf ice cream and always thought they had good ice cream but The Orange Octopus is the best we have ever tasted in Florida! We went there daily and the employees knew who we were and were very friendly to us. We enjoyed going there nightly to get our favorite ice cream and wish we had... More

We enjoy visiting The Orange Octopus at least once during our stay on Siesta Key. Conveniently located behind Captain Curt's, the small storefront offers a nice variety of creamy deliciousness in the form of ice cream. They also have a small coffee bar if that is more your style. There is a very small sit-down area adjacent, but crossing the... More

Took a long stroll down the beach and came out the road near Captain Kirks. Stopped in for a quick sweet treat and so glad we did. Friendly service. Awesome ice cream. We now have a favorite ice cream shop on Siesta Key

You have to go south a ways form the Village to find this place in the parking lot behind a seafood going on Midnight Pass. But fantastic homemade ice cream! What a mix of flavors with their own creations. So glad we found this place. Made it their 2x. Across form Crescent Beach Mkt

Was it two or three trips here in 4 nights? I can't recall, but I do recall that the ice cream was superior to most. Very smooth, rich, creamy. We live in Ohio which is Graeter's and Jeni's country, but the product doled out by the OO staff was really excellent. Yes, the Snickers tasted like the candy bar and... More

After a day at the beach our family headed over to get ice cream. We are definitely Icecream lovers! This shop was close and reasonably priced for the amount you get in a scoop. Very friendly, helpful lady serving as well. We went twice and we all tried different flavors each time.the highlight flavors were sea salt caramel praline and... More

Stopped here for ice cream as it was just down the road from our condo. Nice little spot with ice cream.

Initially arrived when the shop was closed but our curiosity to take a closer look at the historic black and white pictures hanging on the wall brought us back and we were quite glad we did come back. Had a very nice conversation about the shop's setting, historical background, and the work that goes into their ice cream recipes. Truly... More
