One of the best meals I have had

The only reason we found this restaurant was because we were doing the monthly art walk at Towles Court. Luckily we were able to get a table without a reservation, just good timing because it was fully booked for the rest of the evening. The little room we were seated in was fine because we were the only ones in it but if it were full it would be awful. We sat in the front room that has three tiny tables right on top of each other. The cornbread beef appetizer was mostly fatty and the cornbread was bland. The cobia fish was very... More

This place was recommended by one of the employees at the hotel where we were staying. Very nice, upscale experience overall. Ambience was quiet, and somewhat dark, with various candles on tables. Decor was reminiscent of an inn, as it was located in a converted house. There is outdoor seating available, but we chose inside due to the heat and... More

Ate in the wine room/cottage with friends last week for the first time, and was really impressed with the caliber of the food, wine and service at Indigenous. My mushroom bisque was rich and delicious, and my entree special (cobia with collard greens and what tasted like a thai-influenced sauce/broth) had great, bold flavor and was cooked perfectly. Along with... More

We love Indigenous-it has always been our favorite restaurant but this last visit was disappointing. First of all there was a table of four in our little room which only had three tables. They were so loud we could not hear each other but we could have dealt with that. The fish special I really wanted came with a gluten... More

We lived in this area for about a year now, and Indigenous is definitely one of our favorites. While the menu is small the food is outstanding, and the service and the ambiance is wonderful. Not a place to go for a big bulky meal, but a wonderful appetizer, followed by a delicious entrée and incredible dessert, and you are... More

First off, with respect to the other restaurant competitors in Sarasota, I'm sorry, but Indigenous deserves to have the 2 in #21 taken out and allow just for the 1 to remain for #1 in Sarasota! Everything from speaking to a live person when making the reservation (I called before they opened) to the actual experience was flawless. The well... More

I had been wanting to try this restaurant for some time and they did not disappoint. Our meals were all excellent, along with impeccable service. My wife and I feel it's one of the best restaurants in Sarasota.
