We were treated like second class citizens because we didn't have a reservation. Tried to get some drinks at the totally empty not busy at all bar while trying to decide what we were going to do. Either the girl working at the bar owns the restaurant or she doesn't like money but either way she was the worst

Indigenous is located in an old Florida house, in a most interesting neighbourhood. Towles Court. We (four of us) have only but praises for this restaurant and the staff. Excellent seafood, Cobia and Tuna, local organic produces. Our waitress was friendly, she answered our many questions with patience and knowledge. She also had excellent serving manners. You may eat inside or... More

Very creative menu that uses local (indigenous!) fish, veggies etc. We really enjoyed the pork belly as an appetizer. My husband had the burger with duck fat fries, amazing! I had a fish of the day (?) served with a Southern presentation of collard greens. Also amazing. If you enjoy an unique presentation of food with wonderful wine this is... More

I must admit I was a little underwhelmed when I looked at the menu online (burgers & chili, po'boys?), but my concerns were very quickly allayed. Indigenous is a treat! It's located in a beautiful setting downtown, a converted bungalow of cozy romantic rooms. The staff are friendly, efficient and helpful. The ingredients are local, fresh, change with the seasons... Locally sourced quality fish and meat always perfectly prepared. Well planned blend of vegetable and/or grain complements for each entree, outstanding flavors and seasoning. Good vegetarian option when feeling vegetarian, accommodates special diet restrictions. Love the fish and Beignet appetizer with honey and parmesan

Indigenous is set in a bungalow at the edge of the Sarasota Main Street district. They offer a small, but well selected menu sourced from local vendors as far as possible, and paying attention to sustainable farming and fishing. I had their melt in the mouth pork belly, followed by their fish of the day which on that day was... More

I've reviewed Indigenous in the past and have given it the rating of my favorite restaurant in Sarasota. The other night we had a terrible experience with them. We had an out of town guest and wanted to take her to our favorite place. My wife called for reservations for last Friday and left a message. They called back saying... More

Loved our dinner at Indigenous. We sat outside on the patio, which was lovely and very comfortable. There are heaters when the temperature become chilly. We started with the Parmesan beignets, which were warm and delicious. For my main course I had the wild caught golf shrimp on okonomyaki pancake with a sauce that reminded me of the sauce you... This is a converted house with a few tables in two or three rooms. The menu is not extensive, but the food is excellent. The service was also excellent
