We enjoyed Mad Crow, but it closed. In the same location, is DARWIN'S ON 4TH. New sign; renovated interior. Still a brewery, but Mad's excellent small plates have been replaced with Darwin's large array of excellent Peruvian small plates. Music on weekends; lively bar scene. Interesting brews -- try a sampler. A fun place to graze in SRQ!

The bad news is that it is now closed. It is in a REALLY bad location nestled in next to the Trolly Station cafe and an alley. It's a nondescript building with a tiny sign I missed twice...and I knew what I was looking for. 8 months or so later, auf weidersehen. The good news is that it is under... More

We came back to this restaurant after eating here once before and having a great experience. Our party of five was seated quickly and the waiter took our drink order. We ordered our food and my seafood chowder came out as well as a salad that was ordered. One minute later three of the five entrees came to the table.... More

The positive aspects of this restaurant are the decor; the service and, if you are careful, some good wine bargains. The downside is the food. I have never had escargot that has been ruined by the kitchen. The chef at the Mad Crow managed to drown them in an insipid cream sauce. Bone marrow--one of my favorites--was included on the... I met a bunch of my friends at Mad Crow for a birthday party. It was a little hard to find but once I knew the cross streets I couldn't believe how many times I have driven by this gem. We started off with drinks at the bar. As our party kept growing, we moved to a large community table... More

Had to try this new Beer Pub, the night after July 4th..now maybe the main Chef was on Holiday, maybe he was fired, but whomever was cheffing was not good.....Disaster from the start..the "Chowder" was supposed to be cream based, and it came out thick brown glue sauce, with one mussel, one shrimp, and a slice of a scallop that was... I got a tip that this new brew pub had opened from a waiter at one of the ritzy restaurants on Long Boat Key apparently that's were the bartenders & waiters of the area like to hang out after work. It's located in one of the rare old Spanish style buildings in Sarasota. For a new place the staff is... More
