Great variety of sushi all prepared fresh, the menu changes all the time based on the available fish, presentation and variety is the best around, try the salmon and tuna burst

Having lived in Japan; having a Japanese family, I am pleased to finally find a Japanese restaurant that serves Japanese food. Not so called Japanese-Korean-Chinese-Thai fusion. The chef and the staff have created a FIRST CLASS sushi-ya without paying first class prices

We were not sure what to expect when we drove up to this restaurant located in a strip mall. But, from the time we walked through the doors, we were happy and very impressed. The space itself is lovely, and the sushi was just outstanding. Beautifully presented, delicious, high quality and unusual, we were impressed and very satisfied. Staff is... More

Having seen the good reviews on Trip Advisor, and with a yen (and perhaps dollars) for a Japanese meal, we ventured out to Vizen Restaurant. Truth be told, the impression one gets as you approach and park in front of the restaurant is not particularly positive. (A tattoo parlor is a few store fronts from the restaurant.) The Vizen experience... More

We love sushi and sashimi and after reading all the rave reviews were eager to try Vizen. The fish did taste fresh, but we were not impressed with the food that we had. The sashimi portions were very small compared to what we are used to and the rolls were very small as well for the price. We have had... More

After many visits, with and without reservation, we still look forward to our biweekly dinners at Vizen. My wife and I usually order 6 to 7 items (incl. desert) from the 'Specials Board' on the wall and share all of them. Every serving has its distinct and unique flavor, I look forward to every bite. Be it the 'Tuna &... More

For the purists, great sushi needs very little sauce or flavor – the fish and the rice need to be the central, focal point of each morsel. Soy sauce, a bit of wasabi, and some pickled ginger afterwards is the limit for many sushi foodies. The mold was broken by a number of creative, renegade Japanese chefs such as Nobu... More

Food does not disappoint. There are many daily specials on the chalk board listing sources where the seafood came from (such as Santa Barbara sea urchins). Most are worth trying - we had uni presented two ways, on toast with fish roe and plain with shredded seaweed and a raw quail egg sitting on shredded daikon like a nest. The... More

I am a sushi snob and this met my expectations. We had the carpaccio and the ceviche specials to start. Not only was the presentation wonderful but both were excellent! Next we tried the uni...yeah I know it can be sometimes iffy...but no worries! The presentation with the quail egg was wonderful and the uni might have been the best... More

We have dined at Vizen on a number of occasions, having first read about it in the local newspaper. Everything is absolutely terrific. The fish is always fresh. It is presented beautifully. Sometimes the pieces have a soy sauce mousse atop the sushi -- simply put, wow. It is elegant; more at the high end in terms of not just... More
