We have been to the restaurant once a year ago and again this past week. The food is good, fresh and above average. The service is great, and the environment is laid-back professional. We had a great cheese plate, their wonderful grilled romaine (charred romaine with a Ceasar dressing), lobster & shrimp crepe (only average), scallops main (wonderful) and red... More

We leave Sweet Melissa's for our last night on Sanibel because we have loved the atmosphere, soft guitar musician, service and innovative cuisine. The service and atmosphere were still great but the food was disappointing. We got the suckling pig appetizer which was good and the sweetbreads which was not. There were so many other ingredients I couldn't even discern... More

Don't be misled by the nomenclature "cafe." This is not standard beach deep fried fast food. This is adventuresome hand crafted cuisine designed and lovingly prepared by a creative and talented chef. Such as (local) rabbit pâté, New Orleans BBQ shrimp and grits, blackened snapper where the blackened enhanced the fish not overwhelmed it. House specialty fish stew is bread-sopping... More

Always love Sweet Melissa's and tonight was another great experience. Amy was our server and was a gem. The menu is interesting and innovative. The beef tartare was excellent and it was hard to decide if it was better than the lobster & shrimp crepe. Main courses of fish stew (very complex with a tomato/her brother and fennel aioli with... My daughter, two close friends and I ate lunch at Sweet Melissa's and all were delighted with our meals. My daughter and I chose the beet salad with grilled shrimp which was excellent. For dessert I had the banana cream pie in a chocolate crust and she had the trio: grapefruit sorbet with rosemary, chocolate ice cream and five spice... More

Had the farmer's market sandwich (veggie and mozzarella) and soup for lunch (potato/squash/celery root) and found the food to be quite tasty. Sat outdoors in the screened patio. Service was "OK" but not as good as I would have expected for the type of restaurant this is. Unusual menu choices.

Enjoyed a great dinner there recently - The food was delicious! There was a nice variety and not just the usual selections. I loved that they offer a petite portion option on a lot of their dinners and they had wonderful Chef Specials. Everything tasted fresh with great flavor combinations- The Fish Chowder was not something I would normally order... More

We were very excited to try this award winning restaurant. We had a table of 6, including 2 children. We had reservations and they knew we were coming in advance. We waited for our table 10 minutes and the restaurant was nearly empty. It looked nice but definitely not a location on the water or beachy vacation atmosphere. Our waiter... More

If you are a foodie, you must go to Sweet Melissa's. Interesting and varied menu. Each dish is as tasty as it is lovely to look at. Service is friendly, but professional. A wonderful dining experience from start to finish.

As our previous experience a year or so ago wasn't all that we had hoped for, we had a little apprehension when we walked in. But, from that moment on, our dining evening was simply terrific! Interesting items on the menu, the choice of small or large portions for many of the dishes, lots of space between tables and an... More
