The Mad Hatter looks like your typical shore point fish and chips dine out. It is the complete opposite ! Impeccable food, drink, and service, albeit expensive. A la Carte with Entrées, $29-45. Unless you are wealthy, this is not family dining with kids. I adored the Black Grouper over a Coconut flavored Risotto, with a fresh vegetable medley that... More

The "bar" is beer and wine only. Wait staff is over done, meaning fake and over payed for what they do. Portions are very small for the price. View of beach / sunset is a parking lot. Small dinning room. That is why there is 2 seating's. Most of the menu is fried food. Wine choices are minimal (on hand... More

Sanibel does not have a lot of up scale restaurants, so Mad Hatter wins, but there is no competition. They do not have a bar, so you have to wait in a hall way. They promote the sunset, however the restaurant overlooks their parking lot and then the dunes and then the beach. You will not see a sunset here... More

We have been coming to sanibel island for 30 years. This was the best meal we have ever eaten. Service was phenomenal and great atmosphere. I had scallops which were amazing. Would highly recommend this restaurant

We went on a date here on vacation because it had such great reviews and was #1 on trip advisor. It did not disappoint. The food was wonderful along with the view. I did not realize it would be so expensive but was ok since it was a special occasion. I recommend it but be ready to pay for a... More

After reading all the rave reviews, I was looking forward to a romantic dinner at this #1 rated establishment. The restaurant's eccentric decor and view were nice, but it was very overcrowded and loud and I felt squeezed into my seat. Our server was a little snobby and was so rushed that our requests were ignored and questions not answered.... More

Located on the far north tip of Sanibel, before you reach Captiva, The Mad Hatter boasts on the beach dining and high quality entrees. We arrived during a torrential downpour and had to enter through the kitchen because the main entrance was flooded. The very courteous staff led us our seating, overlooking the Gulf. The menu had a mixture of... More

The pros: the view is nice (although it overlooks the rear parking area and the view from the deck of the Sunset Grill is better), the ambience is quant ( but better at so many other places including all of the restaurants on Andy Rosse Lane). Our seafood appetizer was very good. The cons: The crabcakes were all panko and... More

Finally a Sanibel Captiva Restaurant that delivers innovative well executed food ! Definitely in a class by itself so hats off to the wonderful kitchen staff and the Chef with some NY flair. We had 4 different appetizers with 4 different entrees and everyone was delighted. More than I expected since every other dining establishment that has been hyped was... More
