We were delightfully surprised by the interesting breakfast menu at this quaint family run establishment including 'The Islander' (sauteed gator with eggs, toast, hash browns), the Thursday special ('Trio of French toast' each coated with one of sweetened coconut, slivered almonds and pecans), 'Eggs Benedict with Crab Cakes' and a very satisfying 'Steak and Eggs with Grits'. The kids loved... more

My husband and I had a hard time picking a restaurant for lunch while on Sanibel Island. Everything that looked good was way too expensive! We chose the Sanibel Cafe because it is the oldest family owned and operated restaurant on the island. (We got a brochure at the Visitor's Center). There is a lot to choose from and the... more

My husband and I went for breakfast after seeing this cafe while it was closed. It looked homey and charming, good place for breakfast. We got there, were seated very promptly, and then were astounded by the breadth of the menu! We wanted to try everything, but limited ourselves to steak and eggs and Eggs Benedict. Both were very, very... more

Arrived at Sanibel Cafe and everything seemed very much ok. Very cafeish, which is good. Greeted nicely, quick service to start. People started piling in after we arrived. Wait staff couldn't keep up. Our waitress, young girl, seemed like she hadn't been to bed yet. Ordered breakfast , nice menu, but it was slow coming and was ice cold when... more

We heard Sanibel Cafe was suppose to be good and we went there on 3 occasions and each time the food was not good! For example we got the creamed beef and it was that salty you could not eat it. We told our waitress how salty it was, but no one ever came over to give us a different... more

Enjoyed wonderful dinners and friendly atmosphere. Locals seem to like this place and tourists are made to feel like part of the family. Reasonable prices and large portions of great food. The chef even came out and offered 2nd helpings! Highly recommend this restaurant. more

We had a nice lunch here and noticed they feature an $11.95 Friday Night Fish Fry. We arrived early Friday to avoid any crowds. The grouper was fresh and perfectly cooked. We had blackened and battered styles. Everything was excellent except we wanted more. For lunch we had hamburgers. They were cooked as requested and tasted fresh and lean. I... more

As a local, I am very happy that the Sanibel Cafe is open during season for dinner. They have specials besides the regular menu, each night. Tonight I had Pot Roast and it was excellent! I also went a little overboard and had their homemade Bread Pudding. When the waitress brought it out, I was pleasantly surprised, as it looked... more
