My wife and I travel to Sanibel frequently and always stop in to the Hungry Heron. We had lunch there July 4th. I live in the area and we frequent Sanibel Island. My recommendation is the service is poor and the food isn't that great. A bit of advice to the owners of the Hungry Heron: hire more wait staff! We came oh-so-close to walking out after waiting 17 minutes to place our order. The food was good, but, with so many other restaurant choices on the island, you shouldn't have to suffer like we and other diners did. more

We just returned from a great dinner; were promptly greeted (and later served) by Lori and seated. Atmosphere was great - food even better. The menu has 200+ items to select. Plenty to eat so go hungry! more
