Food was very good for the price, staff was friendly and prompt. For a beach type sit down family dining with kids it is a great place. Atmosphere is a fun, geared toward kids decor with 3 televisions tuned to kid shows. more

We have eaten at the Hungry Heron a few times in years past and have had decent meals. I have never gone in with high expectations and the kids enjoy the large menu. It was our first night on Sanibel, so I wanted to jump into the seafood spirit and ordered the peel and eat shrimp and a house salad.... more

The Hungry Heron has to have the largest menu on the island! And the kids menu has like 38 choices!! (Check out their menu at their website.) We particularly like to go there for their Steamer Pots of clams (my daughter's favorite!). A lot of fried seafood but they also have non-fried selections. Very casual atmosphere and reasonable prices. more

Huge menu, EXCELLENT service. It was only the second time all week we didn't have to send up a flare to get iced tea refills. The food disappoints for me. It's not that it's bad, but sometimes uninspired. I have to admit that we usually come here after we've eaten at a lot of restaurants and hanker for something more... more
