We always visit Doc Ford's during our Father's Day vacation. This year we visited three times on our four-night trip. The Yucatan shrimp are amazing. We also love the fish tacos, beach bread, clam chowder, black beans and rice, and Buffalo Shrimp. Yum. I wish we could go back tomorrow. more

We enjoyed our meal thoroughly! The appetizer of seafood nachos were excellent and tasty. Nicely spiced and not the same old "nachos". The basket of "Yucatan Shrimp" with bread for dipping was fantastic -- also well seasoned. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive. We will definitely go back when we return to Sanibel! more

My husband & I just came back from Sanibel and one of the restaurants we visit was Doc Ford's, I was blown away by their food. I must first say I am originally from Mexico and extremely picky when it comes to any type of latin food since I come from a family of excellen cooks. With this say, we... more

Was very disapointed. I ordered the parmesean chicken sandwich. The sandwich is topped with some pickled onions. Within the pickled onions was a pickled german cockroach, that I almost ate! The managers response to me ....."well it is Florida!" Granted we know that Florida is known for insects; however you hope to not find any in your food! Another comment... more

Positively the worst mojito ever, and I really don't think there was any rum in there, yet the cost was $5.75. I would be willing to pay that price for equal value in return. Did not try the food, so I can't comment on that. Service was okay. Atmosphere was disappointing, after hearing so many good things about it. Just... more

Doc Fords is a great place to go with a pub atmosphere, large game fish mounted on the walls, friendly service and great food. The restaurant was founded by a local author whose fictional tales center around a character by the name of Doc Ford. When we first walked in I wasn’t sure what to expect as there is a... more

My husband and I stopped by here for lunch on a friday afternoon. I didn't expect much based on the ambience, it's like a sports bar, but I have to say the peel and eat shrimp were excellent... I would LOVE to have the recipe. I don't know what's in the sauce, but I wish I could bring it home... more

My husband and I consider ourselves to be foodie snobs in the best sense of the words. Doc Fords is not only the best restaurant on Sanibel, (and I have been to almost all of them), but one of the best restaurants I've ever been to...period. The Mango Mojitos will change your life. The Southern Style Shrimp and Grits is... more

Love it. Love it. Love it. The food and the service are consistent and good. The chef has an interesting take on very basic food. You won't leave hungry. more

Doc Ford's was a nice sports type bar and grill. The food was ok, not great. The margarita's were wonderful however! Wonderfully expensive too. If you like Randy Wayne White and his writing its a must see on your trip to Sanibel. If you're looking for a good meal, try someplace else. more
