My wife and I dine at Traditions at least once a visit to Sanibel. There really is no place on the island like it. There are a lot of good place to get something to eat on Sanibel, but Traditions is fine dining. Start by watching the sun set on the Gulf. The menu is broad with an international flare.... More

We are Sanibel Island residents and we go to this restaurant for special occasions. We know the atmosphere well. It's an upscale family place right on the beach....like Sanibel itself. Any kind of suggestive dancing and F bomb throwing would be totally inappropriate....not just at this restaurant, not just on Sanibel, but pretty much everywhere. We have lived on the... More

They are on the wrong side of history and have discriminated against same sex couples. So for those of you who still believe that same sex couples are against G-d's plan, you'll probably be thrilled to be surrounded by like narrow minded people. However if you are gay, are with people who are gay or just are open minded, don't... More

My husband and I stayed on the property where Traditions is located. I have read some reviews where people were upset that they had to pay an automatic 18% gratuity after thinking they were getting a whopping 15% discount for staying at the Inn, but that didn't bother us so much since we would have given our waiter a 20%... The owner of this restaurant actually kicked a lesbian couple out of the restaurant! They were asked to leave because they were dancing together. They were on vacation and were an elderly couple who where there to eat and enjoy some music. The owner came over and asked them to leave the establishment.

Traditions requests that diners respect normal dance floor etiquette, which includes refraining from publicly touching each other’s private areas. The evening the incident that is being mentioned occurred, the restaurant was full and Traditions was hosting a birthday party for a 7 year old girl, her family and friends. The restaurant owner, concerned that some guests had begun to comment... More

The way the couple were dancing was not appropriate in a family restaurant. It would not matter if it was a female/ male couple or man / man or female /female I dine at this restaurant quite often and I found their behavior rather offensive to witness

Last night, Jan.17, 2015 my marriage partner of 23 years and I were treated HORRIBLY at a restaurant on Sanibel Island, a place we love. The restaurant, Traditions on The Beach singled us out while we were on the dance floor (we were the only same sex couple there) and told us "Not to dance this way; we are a... More

We are disappointed in this unsatisfactory experience at our restaurant. Traditions on the Beach has a long history on Sanibel as a family-friendly restaurant that has always welcomed people from all walks of life. We do however expect couples to respect normal dance floor etiquette, which includes refraining from publicly touching each other’s private areas. This incident was particularly unfortunate,... The Island Inn began offering accommodations to island visitors over a century ago, and the artifacts and photos displayed in the hotel restaurant Traditions on the Beach document the history of this venerable establishment. Our entrees of GRILLED VEAL CHOP, JUMBO SCALLOPS, and FETTUCCINE CHICKEN PESTO all were tender, beautifully presented, and enhanced with exquisite sauces and freshly-baked baguettes. The... More
