Tasty little Mexican with a great garden!

Great food, quiet location, good price and nice staff... What more could you want. The bar and outside garden areas are good fun for a night out.

We were in the mood for Mexican-style food and this place was only about 10 blocks were we were staying, so we decided to give it a shot. We went fairly early (about 5:15), so it wasn't crowded at all, but I imagine it fills up pretty quickly during the peak hours even though there's a lot of seating. We... More

Overall, Red Mesa Cantina was a good place to eat. The atmosphere was lively and spirited and the live music was just getting started as we were leaving. The guacamole could have used a little more salt but is was easy enough to add some to my liking. The Chicken Fernandez with chipotle cream sauce was delicious as were the... More

The service was friendly and prompt but my burrito was just average. Husband claimed his Cuban Torta was great. Not getting free chips and salsa was a bummer (as long as you order an entrée, you should get them IMO!). We paid for chips and they were not even hot. Do NOT order the house margarita - like drinking pure... More

A great place for dinner or just drinks and munchies. The bar is outdoors but can seem like its indoors. You can dine either outdoors or indoors. Both have the feel of being in Mexico. The menu is a nice collection of Mexican foods. My favorite is the El Gordo, a Burrito stuffed with all kinds of good things -... More

First of all, the restaurant atmosphere is beautiful. We sat outside and it was like eating in a garden. My biggest complaint is that an order of chips and salsa is not free and you have to pay for refills. However, the quality of food was so great that I ended up not minding at all. I had the Shrimp... This is a casual restaurant located in downtown St. Petersburg. Sitting outside in the open patio made me feel like I was in a Mexican cantina. The atmosphere felt like Mexico, but the prices reminded me that I was NOT south of border! $4.00 for a basket of chips? At Chili's, these are complimentary. $4.50 for a tiny fish taco?... More

By blend I mix it's perfectly blended with other culinary cultures. The food was EXCELLENT!! I can't wait to go back. We also checked out the Red Mesa Cantina not far from here on the recommendation of our waitress and took some food to go.

This restaurant was one of our favorite stops in St. Petersburg! We took the advice of several hosts and our server and ordered the El Gordo burrito as well as one duck taco. Both satisfied our desire for Mexican food with flair. The beer selection and tequila selection were also extensive and satisfying.
