Not only was the chips warm the salsa was excellent...so good I paid for some and he sent it home in a bottle for me. Plus one of the men sang and played the guitar to several of us women in the room...very sweet and the food was EXCELENT!!!

After reading TA reviews I made a point to stop at this restaurant. This was the last stop in St. Augustine. My expectations where high. I eat Mexican food at least twice weekly. The food was average. The service was phenomenal! Hands down the best service I have received at a Mexican Restaurant!

Had lunch at Playa Chac Mool today. What a great experience! This place is right along the beach road in St. Augustine Beach-- though a little hard to see from the road, unless you're looking for it. There is plenty of parking out back. The place seems to get a good amount of traffic, but was not too crowded. They... More

I've traveled Mexico for many years and what I love about the food is its simplicity and fabulous ingredients. Playa Chac-Mool was exactly that! Unpretentious, tasty, simple, and delicious. The real thing, not that made up crap Mexican food that Americans are enamored with and think is authentic. Javier, the owner, was attentive, friendly, and made us feel comfortable as... More

After reading other reviews maybe my expectations were a lil high. It wasn't bad at all but not great either. Average Mexican food. Just a little pricier. Service could not have been better! Having to pay for chips and salsa after the first basket and small cup of salsa was a lil off putting too.

We eat Mexican frequently and, based on the reviews, decided to try Playa Chac-Mool while on vacation. The service was quick, polite and friendly. The food was only so-so (our table ordered fajitas, burrito, quesadilla, etc). Food arrived hot, but the guacamole was partly brown and while we found the food totally edible, it was definitely unremarkable over all. Also,... More

There is nothing to dislike here. The food is excellent (I recommend the choriqueso and the enchiladas, or the fish tacos, or burritos, or the huevos con chorizo, or the... you get the point). The service is outstanding... always polite, always fast, always happy. And they go the extra little mile for you. We went on our anniversary, I mentioned... More

Excellent service. Small place but able to accommodate our large party of eleven. Fresh and tasty food. I recommend the shrimp tacos. Family owned vibe. A real neighborhood gem!

Not sure why more restaurants don't serve drafts in frosty mugs, but when one does they get my business. This is a family owned restaurant and both times we were there the owner greeted us at the door. Very good food and outstanding service.

We visited this restaurant while vacationing in St. Augustine. It is really a small place, but cozy & very friendly. We ordered fajitas & they were very tasty. The service was fast & friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant.
