We were recommended this spot by a local. It has freshly baked items (rolls, bread, empanadas - chicken and beef, as well as other bakes items, soups and on the day we visited, picadillo). It is easy to miss the entrance for the bakery of St George street as it is back behind a stone wall. It is between Whetstome... More

We had a picadillo soup, and another one which name I don't remember, but was a clumpy sticky rice affair, more like a casserole. $4 each wasn't bad, and the Datyl catsup and mustards are great. Fantastic looking pastrys and now I wish we had gotten some to take with us.

We stopped here for a quick bite and had a sweet potato turnover and a pecan castillo pastry. The turnover was gingery and not overly sweet, the pastry was generously stuffed with brown sugar and pecans. Sitting in the sunny courtyard was a delightful way to take a break in a day of sight-seeing. Very much recommended!

We stumbled upon this little, out-of-the way eatery after leaving the Whetstone chocolate place on St. George's. The smells coming out of the bakery were heavenly, so we stopped for some empanadas and turnovers. Both the beef and chicken empanadas were wonderful! (The chicken had a bit more "kick.") We tried all three flavors of turnovers and they were good--especially... More

Enjoyed the different foods. We had the beef empanada, sausage dog, cherry and apple turnover. All were delicious. The buns, not so much. But everything else was spot on. Prices are said to be high but what would you expect in the middle of downtown St. Augustine. Would go again.

When we visited this place, first, I was expecting more Spanish dishes, and second more Spanish flavor. I had the empanadas which were overly dry, and had too much oregano (and I like oregano). Also, they were overpriced ($4 for an small empanada). My daughter had the pig in a blanket which I don't consider it to be Spanish at... More

After reading the glowing reviews posted here I really am reluctant to give my negative review. I am always leery of one negative among many positives when I look for reviews. But this was our experience so here goes. We got a 10 % discount to eat here when we toured the Whetstone Chocolate factory. It is located behind the... More

You sit outdoors on picnic tables in an enclosed patio in the historic district. Choices of tasty soups, empanadas, tapas sandwiches and delicious cookies. Lunch combos are a good deal for $6.50. One lunch item, roll, cookie and soda.

This remains a good lunch spot. The empanadas are not as amazing as before the original owner sold it but they are still good. Nice soup bread and desserts.

Unique baked goods, very fresh. You can smell the bakery a block away and it beacons you. It is a vision into how things were in the past. Loved it.
