I really enjoyed the food and service! The fact that it was on the waterfront made it even better. Highly recommend this establishment.
We've eaten here for many, many years, seen many menu changes & have always raved how great it is, but things have changed over the past couple years. One meal is great, then the next few are so-so, whether being overpowered by a spice or overwhelmed by Stilton cheese, or the fish being dry or fishy. Prices are up, portion... More
We stopped at Cap's for lunch after receiving a recommendation from a couple we met on our trip. At 1:15 pm on a Sunday it was packed! We put our name on the wait list and headed to the outdoor bar for a couple of Bloody Mary's. The bar was packed and the 4 wait staff were here, there, everywhere.... More
We've lived in nearby Jacksonville for 20+ years but somehow never made it to Cap's until now...we didn't know what we were missing! This is a large, busy place located on the intercostal waterway, with indoor and outdoor seating. The reception desk staff was very helpful and we were seated with only a short wait, where our table offered a... More
You definitely pay for the view; especially at sunset (wonderful). That is, if you are lucky enough and can wait long enough, to get a table outside. There is definitely room for improvement in service! My husband and I have been several times in the last few years and it is always the same. A big tourist destination. Food was... More
Seated outside just before sunset on a gorgeous spring evening, a special occasion ruined by people waiting to be seated standing over us SMOKING. We complained and the staff seemed put off by this. Instead of being moved to the lovely indoor dining room, we were sat in a dingy room off the bar. We didn't stay beyond appetizers and... More
It's not difficult to find good, fresh seafood in this part of Florida. What makes Cap's so special is their creativity, service, and perfect setting. Try it, you'll be hooked!
Happened upon this place, driving along A1A north of Vilano Beach. Made 2 visits we liked it so much...Sunbday lunch and Friday dinner. Seated on the deck both times. Fantastic service, pretty upscale menu. The frites are not to be missed. Looking forward to returning next month. Friday eves are very busy...be warned!
Went to Cap's twice while visiting the area. First time for just drinks at the outdoor bar - bartenders were excellent, outside bar atmosphere - fantastic! Second time was for dinner with friends (locals from the area) - food was superb, service was excellent, and inside atmosphere was also fantastic. Had great seats with a wonderful view by the window.... More
Caps on the Water is one of those places that surprises you from the moment you drive up into the parking lot.. The driveway and parking lot is one big sand box and your first thoughts are oh, this should be good, another "cheesy" St. Augustine tourist trap. That's where it all ends. The moment you walk in, you are... More
