Great Fried Shrimp! We have been eating at Osteens since at least 1977. Tips: We arrive a few minutes before 11am & get right in. If someone in your party doesn't like fried shrimp they have daily specials & great vegetables. Try the broiled Flounder with extra seasoning. O'Steen's is wonderful (and not low-cal!) I've been eating here for 20 years. Barnacle Bills is similar (they stole the recipe - interesting story) but they do not de-vein their shrimp. I hate biting into shrimp and seeing the black stuff in the back. I've never had this problem at O'Steen's - it's always been wonderful and worth the wait.... more

I heard that If in St. Augustine U must eat at O'Steen's. Bad mistake, I thought the food was lousy, even the shrimp. Red Lobster or Shells restaurant is much better. I was amazed to read a couple of negative remarks about O'Steens. Yes, it has zero atmosphere, and yes it only has plain food and fried. We moved to Florida from Indiana and you will not find better shrimp anywhere! This is "to die for shrimp". O'Steen's is always voted #1 in the "Best Shrimp" category in the The St. Augustine Record. Friendly staff. Get there early to avoid long lines. Highly recommend!! more
