Very enjoyable

Celebrated a birthday here last week and had a very enjoyable meal. Cocktails were reasonably priced and good. Green salad starting dinner, so fresh and tasty, was followed by two perfectly prepared crab cakes accompanied be creamy grits. My partner enjoyed his selection of shrimp, prepared four... read more

There are some places you go that become more than just places. They become part of your family history. Salt Water Cowboys is such a place. I first went there back in the 1970s. It is still there, on the swamp. We've been going there with my family for the past, gosh, 19 years or so. We've vacationed one week... More

Try to dine here whenever in the area. This trip was no exception. Two of the three of us ordered the crab cake dinner and enjoyed them. I had the local fried oysters, lightly breaded and lightly fried. Sides were good also. Service was very good. This is usually very busy but it was slightly off season so no wait.... More

We pulled in and I felt like I was on a set of a movie, the restaurant is definitely a unique place. The food was just ok, I decided to go out of my comfort zone and try something new and I should have stuck to something I knew I would like. The staff is super friendly. If you go... More

As their menu states, Salt Water Cowboys "features local (seafood) dishes served in a turn-of-the-century fish camp setting." Like Hot and Spicy? Try the Spicy Red Clam Chowder. A bowl is a meal in itself. There is also the excellent Jambalaya. I had a special od the day, clams in the shell with linguini. Exceptional!! So many good and unique... More

We read the reviews and decided to give it a try - a complete disaster! All 3 of us got indigestion and felt discomfort. We ordered a dozen fresh oysters, Chicken w/ribs, Pig - out, the daily special Flounder and a Jambalaya. The oysters are very small and salty, the ribs are good, the flounder was tasteless for a fresh... More

This is a really cool setting next to a spectacular marshland expanse. Ask for the room with the marsh view. The restaurant is rustic and very welcoming. It's all really good Northern Florida type food (e.g., alligator tails). We didn't have the courage to try them though. We had the Jambalaya which was huge and delicious. Also tried the friend... We go once a year to enjoy the food and atmosphere when we are in the area. This year we went in a group of 8 around 7:30 pm and we had an approx 20 minute wait. The ladies were served red wine in a plastic cup and we were told they had run out of glasses. The server mixed... More

Salt Water Cowboys looks like a rundown shack in the middle of a swamp. This is part of it's charm. Inside is bright and as if you are having dinner on a friends lovely porch, with views out to the marsh. The service was good and the food had a home cooked taste. It isn't a bargain, but we left... The clam chowder was full of tender clams. Inexpensive beer and mixed drinks. I recommend the mojito. DJ was our server and he is very attentive and personable.
