Description: We are a staff of friends and family who are proud to bring you the best...
We are a staff of friends and family who are proud to bring you the best tasting cheesesteaks and hoagies in Florida. Our bread is shipped down par-cooked from South Jersey, then baked fresh throughout the day, so you can enjoy authentic flavor straight from the oven. Each day we slice our rib-eye by hand to ensure our steak is tender and delicious; we would never dream of serving that pre-sliced stuff! We have original Cheez Whiz to give your cheesesteak that real Philadelphia flavor, the same way we ate them growing up. If that’s not your thing, we also offer American, Provolone, and Swiss cheeses, all from Dietz and Watson, who also provides all of our Italian meats (for an unforgettable Italian hoagie that will make you think you’re right back in Philly!). We have put our hearts into creating sandwiches we are proud to serve, and we hope you enjoy eating them as much as we enjoy making them.

Dark, depessing, narrow space

Dark, sort if depressing, ask hostess/waitress to warm up my hoagie and then after waiting a while had to go up to counter to ask for my food. She went on break and the only other person there was the cook. Food was ok.

Had two cheesesteaks and a chicken salad sandwich. The cheese steaks were good with a proper ratio of onions the chopped steak. They had cheese whiz which is also authentic. Rolls were not real fresh (think we were there right before close). The chicken salad was good but a little bland. Portions were a little smaller than usual. Fried pickles... More

My husband and I treat ourselves to a South-a-Philly hamburger whenever we have a few dollars to spare. At 4.99 each, they are a good deal for downtown St. Augustine, and they are simply delicious--classic burger with trimmings. The fries are great, too. And just as good is the counter seat by the window where you can sit, eat, and... More

I've had steak subs while in the city of Philadelphia. The subs from this establishment were right on par (be aware that Philly steak subs are on the blander side to begin with). I think this sub was actually a tiny bit better than the Philadelphia versions, even though it was chopped steak slices than full slices of steak. The... More

Philly was good. Sub and salad was just ok. Atmosphere was very good and it was easy to get into and order even on a busy day.

My husband and I have been here multiple times over the years and watched the business grow and grow. The food is always excellent and the owners are always friendly. We stop here every trip St. Augustine.

This place is so amazing! The only thing I would change is I would make the rolls Amaroso's. The rolls are good, don't get me wrong. They make authentic steaks, including the cheez whiz. :)

This was our third stop at South A Philly. We try not to duplicate restaurants on vacation, but there are a few that are way too good! The steaks and fries are great. They also have old video games and pinball machines to play while you are waiting for your food.

Dont let the small size and hidden location of this place turn you away. THE BEST philly I have ever had. Not to mention it came with a side of some tastey cheese fries. Not the most healthy choice but hey a philly cheese steak isnt susposed to be. Cant say enough about this hole in the wall joint that... More

Just a little sandwich place, but they make a mean pork roll, egg, and cheese sandwich. It's the real deal !
