We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Barbara Jean's. The restaurant is comfortable, casual, and has something on the menu for everyone, with great views of the river. You can sit inside or outside. We were immediately seated at a table with a great view of the river and brought a bread basket filled with yeast rolls, pumpkin bread, and jalapeno... More

Living in Florida I am pretty picky about my seafood... The crabcakes are always good but a little dissapointed that the seafood seems a little run of the mill here. Good place to go for comfort food and kids will have fun feeding fish bread from the deck but not notable or exceptional.

The meal was excellent. "She" crab soup, get the bowl, not the cup. Crab cakes are 100% crab meat cooked perfectly and served in style, with a view over the Intercoastal Waterway. Eat on the deck, weather permitting. Dessert was a bit of a bummer. The apple cobbler did have home-made whipped cream, but little else to recommend it. The... More

We did a double date to Barbara Jean's. We walked in at 9:00 p.m. on a Saturday not knowing they closed at 9:00 p.m. We asked if we were too late and were immediately seated outside as that was our preference. The water view was calming and pleasant. We had the crab cakes, "she" crab soup, grilled shrimp and salmon.... More

Southern cooking.... If that scares you , they do have burgers , chicken fingers and seafood ( not all fried). We"re southern but rarely eat the standard southern heavily buttered fare. Grilled tuna sandwich was good but nothing special. Kids enjoyed the burger and said the chicken fingers were like Publix. Friendly staff , nice waterfront location. Generous bread basket... More

Barbara Jean's is another quiet gem hidden in Ponte Vedra. It has great tasting southern cuisine but not good for the waistline. Enjoy!

If you're in the mood for some terrific southern cooking, this is the place to visit. I had the Shee-Crab soup, which was fantastic. Nice and creamy with a little tiny kick to it. I also had the crab cakes, and they were very comparable to those that you get in Maryland. Not very expensive and a very casual place... More

This was our first but surely not our last visit to this casual southern dining restaurant. The atmosphere is quaint, yet the views are georious (directly on the intercostal waterway). My daughter said the chicken fingers were the best she had ever eaten. She loved the broccoli rice casserole as well. My wife had the pot roast with mashed potatoes... More

Wasn't sure what to expect based on the reviews for this restaurant, but decided to give it a shot. When we first pulled in, I immediately started to have reservations. This place really does look like a dump from the outside. Gravel, messy parking lot, unkept building, and the inside isn't much better. The server was friendly and attentive. The... More

Dinner outside was wonderful, watching the boats go by. The food was absolutely delicious , loved the home made onion rings and the she-crab soup, to die for. Our waiter was Tyler, great young man with a super attitude. Go, take your friends, enjoy!
